Right on the water with outside tables. Cash only and you must place your order at the counter. It’s a bit expensive in my opinion. I had the tempura prawns. I was happy with the size and amount of prawns but they were a bit...greasy.More
They've really managed the COVID protocol. We got fish and chips and fish and slaw - fresh, perfectly cooked, and delicious! When we came in June, we forgot to ask for vinegar so just had it with lemon (still delicious!) but when we went last...week (October 21) they automatically gave us malt vinegar, hot sauce, and tartar sauce. Also ketchup for the fries, napkins, utensils, salt and pepper. And lemon, of course. Perfect! Safe, faster than you think a line that long can move, super yummy.More
Takeout--well handled with social distancing, clean tables separated adequately, close parking, porta potty in the parking lot, all spotless. Not cheap. Food came in 5 minutes or less. Had obviously been prepared very early, the oil on the calamari was weeks old and reused, and...the chowder was inedible. This was a Tuesday at 12:30PM.More
We came for lunch and a clam chowder bread bowl was great. I also had a salmon sandwich that was big. Compared to other places, it was ok, but because of take our only, it was one of the few choices near our hotel.
We had read the review and were looking forward to having lunch there. What a disappointment! I believe the oil had not been changed in a very long time, because the fish and chips and the other fried items had soaked up the oil. Not...brown and it was limp. The cod was fresh, just not edible. I would not go there again. We had ordered over 60 dollars of items and they gave us one "very small" tarter sauce, I saw the same thing with the people sitting next to us. Yes, you could have more, but who wants to have to go back up near customers to ask for more.More
We've been coming here for lunch and dinner for a few decades now. We've never been disappointed. The freshness of the food prepared perfectly make us long to go every time we're visiting the family. We retired in 2004 in Arizona but we visit several...times a year. Going to this precious place with a nice relaxing view of the ocean combined with great food and friendly staff and great coffee is what we always look forward to.More
Barbara's Fishtrap is a fun Half Moon Bay restaurant. I have enjoyed this one with my parents. We have had fish sandwiches and calamari and basic seafood fun. This has a fun atmosphere for families and people who like Half Moon Bay life. The seafood...restaurants are so engaging and I would come back to this one.More
Went here for a late lunch last Sunday. The place was crowded even at 2:30. Had about a 15-minute wait. Had read reviews ahead of time so decided to order the calamari and fish and chips. I ordered the senior fish and chips which was...plenty--two good-sized pieces of fish and fries. My wife ordered the regular (4 pieces of fish) and it was too much. The place has a great vibe--right on the harbor with just the right amount of kitsch to make it fun and authentic!!! The food was very good and the server was excellent. It seemed to be a place that locals as well as visitors enjoy. The view and the food were well worth the wait. The prices were very fair for what you got. I was baffled by the fact that there is no pricing on their website which makes it hard to plan ahead. This should be changed!More
This restaurant has a small dining room and a few outside tables. Be prepared to wait. If you can, try going at 11 or after 1:30. The parking is limited and the spaces are tight. You might want to park a little farther away, (not...in the parking lot across the street), and walk to the restaurant.
This is an old locals favorite. The staff knows what works, just go with it. Don’t ask for substitutions, the menu is the menu. The place is small and a little crammed; a wheelchair is a very tight fit.
The food is great. We had fish and cole slaw, calamari and cole slaw, salmon, and the broiled fish sandwich. Bread and butter are served. The food was excellent, not over cooked and the cole slaw is delicious. The senior/child menu is perfect for light eaters.
Four of us had lunch, (two senior meals), and with tip the bill was $75.More
