Food was good. Service was even better. Marianne H. was a superb waitress. Very attentive and amicable!
Excellent ceviche I must have if you're going to visit. Also, I am a big craft cocktail fan and I thought they had an excellent menu.
Fun weekend lunch date with a view of the harbor. When the weather is nice in HMB, it’s a luxury to go to a restaurant with the option to make a reservation and know you’ll get sat. Views are beautiful, service is very friendly, salmon...was buttery, pisco sours are tart and refreshing. Have a nice meal before your hike and water activities!More
Had lunch at La Costanera for my bestie's 60th birthday. It was the most delicious experience of Peruvian food ever! The flavors of every dish we had was just the perfect amount of seasoning and spice. Excellent service, nice ambiance and view of the bay....Highly recommend. Will definitely dine at La Costanera again, and again.More
As usual, I had a great meal with my friend. You're restaurant for service & food & drinks were excellent! We had the two steak dinners, mushroom appetizers, three martinis, two Sangrias. Dessert, chocolate lava cake, & charros. Bill came to 269.16 tip was cash $50.00....The only problem was the the server forgot to bring me back the printed receipt. I left and realized when I returned home and looked for my receipt, I didn't have it. I cal led back the restaurant and explained to Alice who answered the phone that I need my receipt. Alice said let me tell the manager and please hold on. I waited for a few minutes, then Alice did get back to me and apologized for the wait and said she will take my number and someone would get back to me. I told her never mind and I would call the owner that gave me his number awhile ago. I just wanted my printed receipt. I was there tonight outside on the right by the service entry. The server was a very nice Hispanic woman , who use to work a the Italian restaurant Mezza Luna. So if anyone is looking at this review a d works at the restaurant, especially the manager, please send me my printed receipt. dlcherre@hotmail.com date was, June 25th around 5:00 pm. Thanks again David CerraMore
We stopped by on what turned out to be Father’s Day so the place was jammed. Still, we got seated right away upstairs at the bar. Great view up there. Nice, open, modern vibe throughout. Though no fault of the servers, due to the crowd,...service was spotty and slow. However, the drinks and food more than made up for it. I had a Bloody Mary and it was very good (just shy of excellent - needed more tomato juice flavor), and it was very spicy which I prefer. Wife had the special cocktail of the day and it was also very good. We started with the Cebiche Pescado, which was red snapper. It was excellent. The sauce was delicious and the fish tasted fresh. I had the Roasted Beet Salad. It was fresh and included both yellow and red beets. It was very good but I have had better. The sauce rather than complementing the beets fought it a bit. I prefer crumbled feta. Had a side of sautéed spinach and garlic - came out ahead of my main course. It was the best thing we had - fantastic. Just charred slightly but still piping hot and the perfect amount of garlic - we could have eaten three of these. For our main course, we enjoyed the Pescado a lo Macho. Superb. The broth was extremely flavorful but not overpowering. Well grilled portion of swordfish over a really nice and generous mixture of seafood stew. The coconut rice was very good but a little too sweet for my taste. Not inexpensive but I felt the prices were reasonable and especially so considering the quality of the food. I’d go again, in a second, next time we are in Half Moon Bay. Hopefully the food will be just as excellent and the service a bit more attentive without the crowds.More
Food was delicious and our server Cecilia was excellent. We just got into town and wanted to try it out; we are coming back before we leave in 5 days, the food was that good. The chaufa and pescado a lo macho was awesome, lovecd...the coconut rice too!More
This was our first time trying Peruvian seafood and we had a great time! Our waiter, Karen, did a fabulous job walking us through the menu and recommending dishes. Everything we ordered was delicious, the atmosphere was excellent, and I could tell that a lot...of heart went into creating this restaurant. We'll definitely come again next time we're in town.More
This was a foodie paradise! We started with the very Peruvian Chicha Morada (Peruvian purple corn, cinnamon, cloves, sugar) with the Cebiche Peru Thai (Mexican white shrimp poached in rocoto-coconut leche de tigre with lemongrass and Thai basil), which was an incredible combination of flavors...in the sauce that was unique and perfectly balanced and Pulpo a la Parilla (twice cooked grilled Mediterranean octopus, purple mashed potatoes, salsa fusion and salsa criolla), which had an amazing sauce and perfectly cooked octopus with beautiful presentation. We were debating on whether we should stop there but our entrees arrived about then. We ordered the Arroz Con Mariscos Negro (Peruvian style Paella, seafood medley, panca base, cooked in our succulent shrimp broth with black squid ink), which was an outstanding combination of seafood perfectly cooked in black squid ink. But the highlight was the Pescado a lo Macho (Seasonal fish fillet roasted over seafood stew, exotic mushrooms, in a mild rocoto-paprika sauce, and served with coconut rice pyramid), which was one of the most exotic dishes that we have encountered. It came in an incredible sauce with perfectly cooked swordfish, calamari, shrimp, and mussels. We were encouraged to add a little of the amazing coconut rice that was brought in a pyramid stack on a separate plate, and the flavors were transformed into an even more exotic flavor. Next, we were encouraged to add a little of the amazing homemade salsa that had been brought with the homemade potato chips (free starter) and the final sauce was divine. The rest of the coconut rice was a perfect dessert. I had wanted to try the churros but, even with leftovers of both of the entrees, we were too full to try the churros this time. We immediately planned to return on Sat. Oscar was our waiter, and did a superb job with the above suggestions, attentive service, and polite but warm manner. This was a foodie paradise! We went to La Costanera with a large group of about 20, and it was pre-planned and we had reservations and a pre-selected menu to be served family style. I can’t begin to describe how good all of the food was! El mejor!!! The service...was outstanding as well, and I have seen some reviews regarding servers being rude, inattentive, etc., our experience was the complete opposite! All of the servers, bar tenders, & server assistants went out of their way to make sure our experience was top notch, and that’s usually not the case with a large group. They were all very courteous and professional, glad to answer questions, etc., I can’t praise them enough! There was also a manager who would check on us to make sure everything was going well and he too was really nice and attentive! I can’t wait to come back here again!!!More
We ate here for lunch on a Saturday and if we had the time would’ve come back every day. Cebiche Chino - Peruano was not like the traditional ceviche in Peru, but with the fresh tuna it was AMAZING! Tequeños, lomo saltado, aji de gallina,...was all delicious and perfectly prepared, but I was so glad I listed to the servers recommendation and got the Pescado a lo Macho! Wow! I cannot even articulate how amazing this dish was! A seafood stew but in a perfectly prepared, mildly spicy rocoto sauce. The flavor was perfect. The best Peruvian food we have had outside of Peru!More
I am half Peruvian and love to hit Peruvian restaurants everywhere I go if I can! This place stood up to my standards of authentic cuisine just like my grandmother’s cooking!!! I was pleasantly surprised by the causa with Scallops appetizer, normally in Peru I’ve...had it with chicken or tuna but the scallops on top here were perfectly seared and delicious. Armando was our server, he was fabulous and anticipated all our needs. The entire staff was happy and friendly, it seemed like a genuinely great place to work based on their smiles and banter. Definitely ask for a side of Rocoto if you like spicy salsa. Lomo saltado was great, I wish the French fries were a little more plain (they are crispy or battered somehow) to soak up the sauce but that is literally my only finite complaint. Finished off the meal with Lucuma ice cream that brought me back to my childhood memories of the heladero!!! I will definitely be eating here next day trip to Half Moon Bay.More
The views are magnificent, and in line with the quality of the Peruvian dishes. The staff is super friendly and they allow reservations through OpenTable, so that made the experience even better (rather than not knowing whether you'll get a table if you walk in)....The ceviches are a dream, and the wine list is also definitely a plus. We were seated very quickly, the service was impeccable, and being able to look at the ocean while feasting on tasty dishes was priceless.More
We had a quick .... literally as the main course came when we were still working on our appetizer ... dinner here one evening. in roughly 60+ minutes. The food was OK to good, well spiced, but not really memorable to be honest. Service was...very nice ...More
