Stopped to find out why the Jeffery Hotel was closed as that was intended destination. People were friendly and willing to share about a fire and 'other' issues the current owner was facing.

First, we had a good dining experience. Second, unfortunately, because our party of 6 couldn't fit into the booths in the saloon, we had to dine in the annex. It was nice enough for a modern add-on room, with historic pictures and whatnot, but certainly did not have the energy of the saloon. Oh well. It was a Saturday evening... More

Overall this was a really good place to eat. The food was good, the service was good, and the atmosphere was fab too. It's a really cool place with all the stuff on the ceiling and the walls. Me and the other half had the Western burger, chicken strips & onion rings which were all great. The portion sizes were... More

This is a great place to drink some beers and watch a game. The bonus is the great cheeseburgers. A lot of locals too. Friendly.

The Iron Door Saloon isn't my kind of place. Too much of a dive with the waitress repeatedly asking us if we wanted another drink.

Great place for a beer and try to leave a dollar tacked in the ceiling. The dollar task requires several drinks!

We stopped in for a late lunch at the recommendation of a local. He suggested looking up right away. Said there was at least a thousand dollars on the ceiling. There was! Each dollar is wrapped around a quarter and pierced with a pin and thrown upward. Once we admired the ceiling, we sat at the bar. Bartender was great.... More

We left Yosemite driving West throuh Groveland California. The town was very rustic and we noticed a big sign that said Saloon. I said to myself I can't remember the last time that I was at a saloon if ever so we had to try it. Basically, a Saloon Bar / Resturant with a lot of cool stuff on the... More

It's a throwback to the wild west days in this historic old bar. Didn't try the food, but stopped for a beer. Pretty light selection on tap. A couple of California beers, one being Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, given all the great craft brews in California, this is nothing special. Cool to be in such an old bar, though.

Standard pub fare, but excellent service and a fun atmosphere. We made this a stop for lunch before entering Yosemite and we're glad we did. From here, there's not too many more options before the park. Enjoyed looking at the artifacts on the wall. We'd come here again.

Thank Jim and Julie M
