In downtown Grass Valley, there are two Italian restaurants. Both are good, but I tend to like the atmosphere of Alloro in this century-old Victorian home. The dining rooms are comfy and quaint, the service is above the norm for what I've experienced in the...Sierra Foothills. The menu is traditional, and I have a Veal Marsala, which I haven't seen on a lot of menus lately. They make their pasta in-house, and prices are reasonable. Get there early or wait til after 8:00 as the locals pack the place around 6 pm.More

A last minute dinner out in GV on Tuesday evening! The restaurants were packed. A good thing for our community, but, on a TUESDAY, in November? We have come to rely on this lovely old Victorian housed dining room for delish Italian meals and desserts....The Picatta and Rack of Lamb were excellent, the Apple Cheese Salad perfect ....oh and the Tiramisu✨.More

Cute restaurant in victorian house with outdoor & indoor seating. Next to Gold Miners Inn. Took a take-away meal back to the hotel. Delicious.

I loved this place. Very homey and very attentive staff. I got the linguine with artichokes, sun dried tomatoes and salmon. It was amazing! Also had the Sangria and it was extremely good. Small and intimate, reservations are recommended. I didn’t have one but had...no trouble getting in.More

The setting was nice and the food was perfection. I had the Scalopini Marsala and my husband had the Scallopini Picata (?) I think. Both were wonderful. The meat and sauces were perfect and the polenta was dreamy. I had tiramisu that was flavorful and...just the right amount of moist. My husband had a chocolate dessert that he raved about.More

I Recently moved here from the bay area. This was far better than I had last night at Cirino's. I went here with 4 friends and the Oso Bucco, which Cirino's, did not offer, was falling off the bone excellent. The wine was served in...regular wine glasses, not those tiny ones, and they gave a full pour, which is unusual anywhere these days. It is my 1st choice of the 5 I have tried so far. Dr. Frank A. This was our second time having dinner there and it is a lovely place to dine with very nice staff and the ambiance of a historical house !!! The food is quite good and the pricing is just right . The service is great. The...food comes out very quickly so if you are inclined to having a cocktail first and chatting don’t order until you are done with your drink . !!! The garlic bread is tasty and the sauces are very tasty. They have an excellent selection of bottles of wine at very reasonable prices for you to consider . Dint have desert I was full from my fettuccine Alfredo!!!! Please try it and enjoy it is good for small groups too !!!More

Went about a couple of weeks after opening....drab decor. No ambiance...Spaghetti with guanchale was mediocre. My partners porchetta was not porchetta....just a chunk of pork belly. Will not go back.

Very happy with our meal here in a cute little Victorian house conveniently located across from our hotel (which was also wonderful -- the Gold Miner's Inn)

We ate here while staying at Gold Miners Inn which is right across the street. The food was wonderful and the setting is an older Victorian home that has been converted into a restaurant.

I was very impressed with the helpful staff. We arrived without a reservation and asked for a bar table. We got to watch the hostess/waitress deal with other non reservation patrons. She made everyone feel important. Offering outdoor options when she could. We would rate...the food as excellent. We had lasagna and salads and affigato. Great wine selection as well. We will make the drive up to come to this restaurant again.More

We went to dinner at Alloro last night. The food and service were quite good. However, I rated it lower due to Covid concerns. Their website stated they would be seating at 25% capacity due to the fact that our county is in the red...tier for COVID-19. Even so, we felt that we would be safer if we sat outside on the patio than inside the restaurant (where the tables weren't well spaced; however, to be fair, we don't know if people were to be seated at every table). Therefore, we made reservations for the patio, which we have never eaten on before. Upon entering the patio, we discovered that the patio had only one opening for fresh air at one end. We asked if we could be seated at the table closest to the opening and were told no, it was reserved for someone else. However, the whole time we were there eating, no one had taken the table and the reserve sign was removed. When we arrived, there weren’t many people seated on the patio, so we felt fairly safe. However, by the time we were served our food, every table on the patio was taken (except that one table at the end that we were told we couldn’t have) ...and the tables were not spaced 6 feet apart like I was told they were on the phone. Due to the fact that the patio had only opening for fresh air on one end, it was almost like we were eating inside. We felt very uncomfortable and won’t rest easy again until a couple weeks have gone by, and we know we have not come down with Covid. We have had both doses of our vaccines, but with the variants that are out there, anything can happen. I guess we should have just left, but we didn’t. This is the first time in over a year we have been out to dinner because of Covid, and we went to Alloro since they advertise they are following Covid protocols. Looks like we made a big mistake going there. This is very disappointing. We really do like that restaurant. However, now we may never be going there again.More

After covid we ordered food more often that we had to pick up. I ordered two dinners that came to about $60.00 not cheep for mediocre food. Well, the food was aweful. we got a meatball sandwich that was cold inside the meatball and the...bread was soggy. The salad was wilted, and the chicken parm was something like a small Arco quick stop chicken patty that was very hard around the edges with no real chicken near the edges. I called and told them and asked to speak to a manager and was hung up on. I called back and they told me the manager was not there. Several times of calling I finally got someone who said he was the manager (although I do not know if he was) He said well their food is good and if i didn't like it then i should eat somewhere else, I said "you are absolutely right, I will eat elsewhere" I do not get these businesses, the worst thing you can do is h ave both bad food and bad customer service. I would give a zero if i could.More

One of first eating places to open after corona virus lock down. My wife and I went here for her birthday dinner. Had been wanting to try it out for some time. Never were able to get reservations. We had early seating so not to...busy. Wait staff was exceptional and well versed on menue. Our food arrived quickly and was great. They gave my wife cheese cake at no charge for her birthday. Prices were comparable to most dinning places. Will be going back again soon.More
