We have been passing or turning near The Purple Rose in Cleone, California, for most of our week in Ft. Bragg, so on our last evening, we decided to give it a try. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't especially good, either. Servers were pleasant and efficient and the atmosphere was interesting. When we presented our credit card with... More

We found this restaurant by chance and were very glad we did. Very pleasant staff and very tasty Mexican food. Great margarita's also.

Crowded, popular with locals, festive decor, good margaritas, lots of fun ... and, oh yes, good Mexican food. This is one of our favorite places to eat when we're in the Mendocino/Ft. Bragg area.

Sitting in the restaurant now, waiting for my red snapper fillet with rice for $16.95 and sipping a silver level margarita (I.e. the simplest one). Great red and green salsas, just interesting flavors instead of the usual vinegar, and just chunky enough to chew; very crisp tortilla chips. Mexican ballad music in the background, thoughtful and attentive waitress. Gives me... More

After waiting 30 minutes sipping Margaritas on the patio, the four of us were seated in the corner of the dining room and promptly forgotten. Finally had to go ask the hostess for some water to accompany the dry chips and salsa served initially. Our dinners were dropped off by the waitress who never bothered to check back again. The... No two Mexican restaurants are the same. Very reasonable priced. My enchilada was a folded flour tortilla, stuffed with meat and sauce poured over it. Was it tasty? Yes. But different. No rice and beans served with Mr's chimichanga, though it was tasty. I would go there again.

Came here with family who live in the area based on their recommendation. The food was pretty good. Had a shredded beef burrito and chicken chimi.

The staff was great, but the food really didn't have as much flavor as we were hoping. I had the chicken chimichanga and it was bland. One of us at the table ordered a veggie burrito and it was overloaded with sour cream, not veggies. There was some red sauce over everything including the rice. They charge for refills on... More

Surrounded by hundreds of pieces of memorabilia from Mexico in this cosy spot you really want to love the food. Our waitress was just great. We had tacos with green chile pork (surprisingly hard shell) tostadas with beef, chili rellenos and a side of rice and beans. Everything looked and smelled good but was sooooo lacking seasoning and spices. Even... More

The hostess and waitress were very nice and gracious. But the food was just fair. The quesadilla was a tortilla with melted cheese on top, similar to what one of the kids would make in the toaster oven. The pinto beans were flavorless and the guacamole had little taste. I had heard that the restaurant is famous for its many... More
