seriously, the waiter came back and told me to pick something else because "the chef didn't want to make my dish." So I didn't want to eat there again.

Friendly staff & good food. Plenty of parking off Highway 9. Menu has a good range of choices. We were only in the area for a week - if we had the time, would have visited again.

Having lived in California most of my life, I expect to pay a lot for eating out. I have seen BBQ ribs on a paper plate for $20 coming out of a food truck. I had a sticker shock at the Empire Grille because the...menu prices were at least $2-3 less than what I would expect at comparable restaurants anywhere else around Santa Cruz. They also have a full bar, and beer was popular when I made my visit with a friend. They have several outdoor tables with a rolling patio heater. Someone had a dog with them. It's nice to have a canine-friendly place! No indoor dining at the time of our visit. It was nice sitting by the green wall separating the property from the sidewalk at twilight. It was just warm enough to enjoy the ambiance. I had a cheeseburger with fries and coffee for dinner. Good on both accounts. Good french fries. Crispy on the outside and not dried out inside. My companion had the fish special that he always orders. It is like a pilgrimage for him. It is a plate of fried snapper and a side of mashed potato and veggies. He cleaned the plate, and he never eats vegetables! The service was friendly and timely. Too quick and it feels rushed. Not here. Just at the right pace. Plenty of parking and across the street from a large second-hand store.More

Good food, good bar! Great place to enjoy quality food at a reasonable price. Fine for family and friends

Pasta Verdura was great. Ambience was good. Service was quick. Staff is friendly and helpful. Plan to return soon.

We usually stop by for dinner once a month and we have yet to be disappointed. Have taken friends/family there as well and they always enjoy their meals. The staff is very friendly and the place is filled with locals if that tells you anything....The menu isn't huge but it fills the bill for most people. Salads are especially nice.More

Normally the chicken fried steak is not on the dinner me menu on weekends. They made an exception for us. Chicken fried steak was huge and we had leftovers the next day. They make good drinks.

We stopped here after an amazing walk through Henry Cowell Redwoods.....and are we glad we did! Both ordered burgers, they arrived hot, juicy, full of flavor, with fresh fries. So much food we had to take home half! Make this a must visit stop...after the...redwoods!More

We were camping with an RV group nearby and Empire Grille was one of the places that had room to accomodate about 30 people in our group. You could tell they had waited on large groups before and the service was EXCELLENT. The food was...delicious and the menu had a very nice variety of entrees to select from. We will definitely go there again when we are in the area.More

I had the pleasure of eating at the empire Grill with a friend of mine. The café was clean and we were welcomed with several friendly faces upon entering. We were seated quickly and given menus. Once the waitress learned we had not been there...she told us about the specials. We made our choices and settled into a very nice meal with grrrrrrreat service. I had the BLAT which was just delicious and fresh. Along with that I had the chocolate martini which was pretty to look at but it tasted good. I am looking forward to coming back for another meal and friendly service. "Thanks You!"More

I live locally and have had occasion to eat here a few times. The wait staff are attentive and anticipate one's needs before you ask. They are generous with their personal reviews of likes and dislikes. Their vegetables are excellent and I tend to grade...overall on what and how vegetables are prepared. Mashed potatoes yum! Salads yum! When is the last time you saw oxtail soup on the menu? The portions are large and can be split, I love the riblets appetizer. I never have room for dessert, not even a taste. So glad to live so close.More

Great service, local beer, very good burgers. Perfect spot for a post-hike meal through the redwoods.

Stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon, greeted with a smile, clean, simple menu, but there is something for everyone. Hubby ordered a pastrami sandwich and I ordered a jalapeno pepper jack hamburger cooked to perfection. Instead of French fries I ordered a side salad for...$3 extra. It wasn't just a side salad, it included pickled carrots, picked corn, grapes. A very good side salad. The service was great, fresh brewed tea, nice patio and you can bring your furry friend.More

First-time customer in this new restaurant the little town of Felton. It's been open about a year. It's bigger than it first appears. Large dining area with tables, plus bar with drinks and two TVs. Clean new carpet, linen napkins. Service was whiz-bang fast. We...split a club with fries; almost too much for two people!! Very fresh ingredients, good avos (we should know, we grow 'em ourselves). Server very kindly provided a doggie with a bowl of water (outside) on a hot day; pet friendly. We will come here every time we're in the San Lorenzo Valley. Very satisfied with food, service, and prices.More
