Don’t let the rustic ambience scare you. The food is great and the ambience starts to make you feel like home.

WOW - from the second you walk in the door to being shown to your table, friendly, welcoming staff, attention to detail, warm what a lovely surprise.
The calamari was light and delicious. I had the freshly caught fish of the day - so good and the chimichura sauce was phenominal. My husband had the Cioppino - which was also so fresh and outstanding flavours. Great, fast service too.
Tiramisu was divine. We will be back for sure - with the rest of our family.
Go ladies - what a great restaurant experience. All from that tiny kitchen too!!
Thank you

We had a family bday celebration and it was just fantastic. Our waitress, Heather, went above and beyond taking care of our table.
The food was wonderful, I splurged with the carbonara and it was well worth the extra calories, so good! Everyone in our group loved their meals.
The atmosphere and the staff is what really makes this place special, it is so cozy, warm and unique. In a world full of same old same old, Sorella Cafe is an original.
Go eat there and experience the hospitality, you will be happy you did.

The food is always delicious and the cioppino is outstanding! However it can be noisy. It’s probably best to go a little later to avoid crowds and families with children

This restaurant in Fairfax is a gem and we go quite often! Lovely, welcoming owners and friendly servers. This place is always bustling and busy and that adds to the ambiance! The food is consistently wonderful. Favorites of ours include the shrimp scampi, puttanesca, butternut squash raviolis, chicken piccata. You really can't go wrong at this place!

Fri 12OCT'18 : My second time here; my partner's first. Bustling, noisy restaurant; very popular, good reviews...all of which gave me a clue I should give it a second chance and bring my partner along. The good: small chunks of cheese from a big wheel delivered to each table upon arrival, along with really tasty (and, nice and sour) sourdough bread (warm would be better). The not-so-good: 1) a waitperson (male) who could have been less interested in serving us: he seemed only to want us to be gone. He never smiled once. And, when he served us the above-mentioned cheese, he took a small piece for himself, hiding it in his fist, and, eating it as he walked away. (he did this several times, every time he would take the cheese to another table.) 2) my partner's eggplant parmesan was the worst he'd ever had anywhere! (and he loves the stuff, orders it often when we choose Italian food for dining out); the sauce, he said, was tomato-ey, but not seasoned well- he said it seemed to be 'cut' with cream or milk, and had no herbs or spices. The eggplant was soggy. My pasta dish - the 'house' dish - was described as having chicken, olives, walnuts and tomatoes tossed in pesto. While the penne was cooked fine (al dente), some of the bite-size pieces of chicken were too hard to chew. The 'olives' were so small and thinly sliced, and so sparse in a ton of penne that they couldn't properly flavor the dish. Same for the walnuts: teeny-tiny pieces, maybe a tablespoon thrown into 2-3 cups of pasta. I asked for more walnuts: the dish was taken away, came back 5-min later with no appearance of any walnuts having been added, not to mention cooled off by then. Not a word passed from our waiter to us during this entire matter; no apology, no smile, no nothing. No one seems to care about anything here. The entire experience was not a pleasant one for us. Try the other Italian restaurant down on the main street: much better food and prices, and nicer people!

There's not a lot to not like about Sorella's. Probably some of the most attentive yet unobtrusive service you will receive. Food is great as well.
They have water and real SF style sourdough bread on the table quickly after seating, followed by someone serving you a chunk of Reggiano Parmigana.
I had the Calamari Dore which was a special that night. It and the vegetable medley that accompanied it were perfectly cooked. My wife's Butternut Squash Ravioli were lovely as well.
After clearing your entrees they come back with little bowls of Gummy Bears and animal crackers. We chose to have a bowl of Limoncello Gelato instead, which was a perfect way to end a lovely meal. We will be back!

Having recently enjoyed a lovely meal with two children under 8 years of age, Sorella Caffe was comfortable, casual, warm, and welcoming.
The spaghetti with Meatballs was a hit with the young ones. The fettuccine bolognese and chicken piccata were also well executed and unfussy favorites.
Corkage was offered @ $15 per bottle which was appreciated while sharing a celebratory meal with some gifted Pinot!
We would advise you to guide your server with respect to how you would like dishes to be spaced out, otherwise they will arrive all at once crowding tight tables.
It is also smart to arrive b/t 5:30 - 5:45 for parties fewer than 6 on Saturday's as it seems most of the Fairfax regulars arrive by 6pm where 2nd seating wait times can be significant.
Looking forward to our next visit...Sorella Caffe is a fantastic family treat all around !

Sorella is a favorite place to eat in Fairfax. It features homemade Italian dishes that are all heavenly. Seafood Fettuccine with Pesto and Butternut Squash Ravioli with brown butter sage are two of our favorites. Highly recommended...

We dined here as a celebration - 10 people at our table. The staff at Sorella were fantastic! The food was delicious - I enjoyed a special fish dish that had an amazing presentation. This is not just Italian food - everything was prepared fresh and was on point! Amazing service for such a large group - the staff teams up to provide the best service possible.

We love Sorella Cafe. Lovely people run the place, the restaurant is charming, and the food is delicious. This is a go-to spot for our family and for my wife and I on date nights. We'll split a salad and order pasta or one of the nightly specials. They have excellent sauces that work well with pasta or fish (various cream, white wine, or Bolognese). The wine ranges to fit budget and mood. We find the house red or a Chianti pair nicely with most dishes. There are some gluten-free folks in our group and we appreciate having a really good GF penne available. Great food and nice folks in a casual yet festive atmosphere. Good stuff.
