About
To just call Brick & Fire Bistro an Italian restaurant wouldn't quite describe it. The space is focused on our wood-fired brick oven - the 'cornerstone' of the kitchen. In it we do everything from bake breads & pizzas, roast lamb shanks & pork chops, and bake ziti and polenta lasagna! We have a wine list offering more than 25 wines by the glass, local beers on tap by Redwood Curtain Brewing, and comfortable, professional servers top off your experience. We love serving the food we love.

First off, this restaurant's location reminded us so much of the great restaurants of Europe that are tucked into side streets. Brick & Fire is located in a quiet suburban neighborhood just a couple of minutes from downtown. It is small, made up of two adjoining buildings. It was dark outside when we arrived and the glow of the brick oven welcomed us warmly. It is a very small restaurant, so you will want to book a reservation early to guarantee space. The menu is absolutely eclectic and setting inside was warm and inviting. The staff was incredibly attentive. Rather than go into the details of what we ate, suffice it to say that we probably were the only two people in the world who were eating what we had ordered that night. This is an uncommon place where you can find uncommon foods and experience an uncommonly wonderful evening.

Very cozy dining room with wood fired pizza oven. The restaurant was recommended by the staff of the Carter house hotel. It was very busy on a Sunday night. The dining room is small so we were offered seating in the wine bar. The wine bar was more quiet and we liked the slower pace. The menu has a good variety of dishes. We had a pear bacon bleu salad, $ 14, followed by a mushroom pizza, $ 21. The wine list was surprisingly big with many choices. The prices were excellent. We had a 2016 Rosso from Italy, at $38 it was fabulous. For dessert we split a creme brûlée, $9. It was delicious and had a thick glazed sugar coating. We spent about $ 115 including the tip. We enjoyed dinner and would highly recommend this restaurant. I would suggest reservations and request the main dining room.

October 9, 2022 it is open on Monday’s...the “main” restaurant only, the wine bar is closed Monday.. Both rooms quite small so a reservation is necessary. We were assigned the “wine bar” which has a vacant storefront between..I heard they wanted to get the intervening space but government zoning would not allow. So the “wine bar” has the same menu as the restaurant but the waiter has to schlep the food from the main restaurant outside to the wine bar. Be not dissuaded...the menu is the same and there is seamless service.

Passing through town, pizza was good. Ordered some great wine, wonderful appie, however, would caution ordering steak. Grainy and fatty. That said, it is an Italian restaurant, wish there was a little more Italian (like a linguini, Alfredo, etc.) to choose from.

We came in to town late and hustled right down to this hot spot. We called ahead to ensure a table and the server helped us choose a perfect menu to share. They are known for their mushroom cobbler appetizer and the best thing I can say about it is it needs to come in dinner size portion! Delicious! We shared the Brick Bird and Grilled Caesar (add Kobe steak) and used the bread to mop up the sauce! All was delicious and our server was fantastic!

Our server Allison made it an amazing and memorable meal and everything she brought out was spectacular. Before we had even started with our Appetizer ()Wild Mushroom Cobbler), we had been delivered a bread basket containing this amazing Focaccia Bread which worked really well with the house Balsamic Syrup. For our Entrees we had the Italian Mac & Cheese and a Fresh Peach & Pancetta Pizza (featuring local Humboldt County Goat Cheese). Dessert was an Espresso flavoured Creme Brûlée. Molto, molto, molto buono!!! Thank You.

We are late-60s retired people who have traveled widely. We prefer food that is artful and flavorful without being fussy. We were in the Eureka area hiking in the Redwoods and found this place online by chance. What a find! They were very welcoming and squeezed us in because we got there right when they opened at 5pm. Like many restaurants, they try to emphasize locally-sourced and seasonal food. It was mushroom season so we tried the Mushroom Cobbler starter...absolutely wonderful, deeply flavorful without being musty. Then had the grilled romaine with generously shaved parmigiano...loved it. We also had a braised pork entree and some lovely wine. The place (we were in the Wine Bar side; the other side is a 12-table Bistro) filled up around us as we ate and the Bistro was fully booked on a Friday, so reserve ahead if you can. The Humboldt coast isn't a culinary Mecca. Brick and Fire was a very very welcome surprise.

The menu here is unique, offering authentic Italian “peasant” food. For example, I had the polenta lasagna. Wine choices are great. i had a great moscato while my wife had a great pino grigio. Prices are reasonable. Wait staff is pleasant and accommodating. Environment can be a bit noisy unless you choose a quieter spot.

Charming neighborhood restaurant in Eureka! Great food and extremely friendly staff! We had the peach and prosciutto salad followed by the steak and Brick chicken (their house specialty!) . The kids loved their pizzas from the wood-fired oven! We finished with their orange blossom creme brulee and chocolate cheesecake and chocolate truffles! Our server could not have been more lovely! Loved the cozy space with fire outside for those waiting ! We own our own Italian restaurant and we are PICKY! Perhaps our favorite detail was the cleverly written menu with so many personal details and suggestions! This is a must for any foodie driving the California Coast!

My husband and I had dinner here not long after it opened and were so impressed that we returned for my birthday the next year. I followed those meals up with a lunch with friends and rated it 4 stars in that TA review. That was 2-3 years ago. I had lunch there today and, if I hadn't eaten there before, would say that I would not return. But I had such great experiences there before that I want to believe this is just a fluke. We were seated and given menus immediately by friendly staff. They came in a timely manner to take our orders but that's the last we saw of anyone until an apologetic server showed up to refill our water 40 minutes later. She said she appreciated our patience and said our orders were currently being plated. When our orders arrived, we were really hungry so probably more tolerant than we would have been otherwise. We each had pulled chicken sandwiches and fries. The sourdough bread seemed to be fresh but the flavor was overshadowed by the grill grease - I think they toasted the bread on the grill where the burgers are cooked? The chicken flavor was good, the arugula fresh and overall the insides of the bread were quite flavorful. The fries... cut so thin that they burned easily and the char nearly overpowered the heavy salt taste. They were drenched in seasoned salt and I could only eat a few and that was after I scraped them well with a knife. I normally never leave fries on my plate but I left about 2/3 because they were not edible. A surprise overall. I've heard from people who have been there that reviews are mixed. Lots of other good places to go. Feeling sad this amazing gem produced this type of experience. Staff very nice. Restroom clean (but you feel really weird interrupting all the kitchen momentum to get to it!)

We went for dinner on a Sunday night and they were doing a brisk business. You should definitely make a reservation. We shared the appetizer for which they are famous—the mushroom cobbler. It is an assortment of wild mushrooms in a creamy sauce, baked with a cheddar cheese biscuit on top and it was delicious. We shared the sausage pizza and it was very good as well with their homemade sausage, olives and roasted red onions. Service was very friendly and efficient. We went back a second night and, of course, had the mushroom cobbler again. Our entrée was the rockfish with a putenesca sauce served with rice pilaf and it was excellent. Highly recommend.

This is a very popular restaurant as evidenced by the crowded dining room. The service was good and the interior of the restaurant was welcoming and laid out nicely. The wine selection and subsequent pours were excellent. We enjoyed the polenta lasagna. The salmon was tasty but over cooked. It is rare in the USA to obtain grilled fish, inclusive of salmon that is not overcooked. However, the salmon was wild caught which was a plus. We wished we had skipped the bread pudding. In all fairness it appears the main draw here is the pizza.

Learned about this restaurant on Trip Advisor while on a trip up the CA coast. So glad they could accommodate us. Interesting and special menu. Delicious food served quickly and delightful service. We can vouch for the baked Brie, polenta lasagna, sausage pizza (brick oven!), braised greens and espresso Creme brûlée. Call ahead as seating is limited!

We were passing through Eureka on our way south and it was a Monday night. Not a lot open but I found this place online and made a reservation (a MUST…it’s a small restaurant). We had a delectable meal, with personable, efficient and friendly service. The dishes offered were eclectic, with fresh and imaginative salads, small plates and full entrees, as well as creative, handmade pizzas fired in a brick oven (as are some of their dishes). I had a creamy oyster soup that was truly one of the best soups I’ve ever eaten. The swordfish was delectable. The bread pudding at the end… OMG. Do not miss this wonderful French inspired delight!

the pizza had a funny tatse, but I have been around the world twice and it was the most disgusting appetizer of my life really. I am still cringing at the thought. It was the calamari. It was like a small, raw whole squid stuffed with puss. revolting. and it was $15. very expensive place for the quality and the memory!
