Authentic hidden treasure, I did not expect so much food. It really is hand prepared with real imported ingredients, such as the cheese.
I especially love the cream puffs- decadent is one description.
I feel that the fettuccine needs more cheese, but that’s me.
There is a huge assortment of niche bottled sodas that are actually better than the big name brands.
Very highly recommended!!!

My wife and I went to the Monavala Pizza Restaurant and were amazed !
The Restaurant is mainly a take out location, but they do have a few tables that you can use as we did to enjoy the great friendly service from Mike Karim the owner, along with his Mom and Dad. Mike's Mom was working hard in the kitchen and Mike's Dad was very busy delivering pizzas to homes in the area. Monavala Pizza has a lot of different menu items and is very unique as it is one of the only restaurants I have ever seen that offers Small, Medium, Large, and Ex-Large Calzones. And believe me the Ex-Large is GIGANTIC ! They also offer those same sizes for their Pizza's, and have an fantastic Greek Salad. They also have amazing looking Chicken Wings in different flavors. They have 9 different types of very big 12" Sub Sandwiches, along with 6 different Pasta dishes. And Monavala's desserts are very good ! Their Prices are some of the lowest I have ever seen, and the amount of food and taste you receive, is really good. But my favorite item when we had dinner was the Spicy Marinara sauce, that we spread on our very tasty MeatBall Sub sandwich and my delicious Calzone. The Calzone I had was filled with Ricotta, Mozzarella Cheese plus 3 toppings of your choice. What a wonderful family run restaurant, with Great Prices and Great Food ! Mamma Mia !

Saw an ad for a slice of Pizza and a drink 2.99 and decided to give them a try Pizza was pk not the best by far, bottom was over cooked and when your missing teeth did not make it easy to chew. I know the man makes his own sauce he told me but was not impressed Very nice clean place staff and owner very nice will try again in the future but being a Mama Rosa's, Nicolosi's and Filippi's fan was not in my top 10 Italian places in the East County

The owner is the rudest and the most disrespectful person i have ever seen. We ordered food stating that the food will be ready at 12:39 pm. We called at 1 pm and the food was still not ready. We called to follow up about the order since we were on lunch break. The guys stated "i am busy and you have big order i cant get it on time and don't expect me to finish big order on time" we asked how long more and he said it would be another 20 mins at least. Some of the friends in the background asked me to ask about cancelation policy as it is very late for us and we wont be able to eat. He got angry and he said u will waste our food. I tried to tell him that we will take the order but he needs to make sure that next time we get it on time.. he kept interrupting me saying "cancel yes or no" . I got agitated and drove up there and spoke with him he told me eat24 gave you wrong time and its not my fault. I told him its neither my fault as i am a customer who ordered food and the time reflected on the order is what i got, i told him its his responsibility to make sure that the timing is correct with whatever company he deals with. He said well no its not my fault and he said he already cancelled the order.
I have been ordering from multiple businesses all over el cajon area and by far he is the worst i have ever ordered from. Never making this mistake again. He lost a business of 20 people at once.
I wish there is less than zero star to give. DO NOT ORDER FROM HIM IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD SERVICE

I had a friend, who is a foody, sing the praises of this restaurant in El Cajon. Living in Chula Vista, I waited for a time I was in the general area. Should have made a special trip earlier!
The calzones are offered in four sizes (Small, medium, large, and Extra-large). They use both Ricotta and Mozzarella cheese and ask you to pick three toppings from a generous list. While the toppings were of better than average quality, the Marinara Sauce and dough were spectacular. BTW, they will provide a clarified butter "sauce" if the Marinara is too rich for your taste.
The Marinara Sauce was thick and flavorful. At first, I thought the small container they provided would never be sufficient for the large (like four servings Large!) size I ordered. It was fine, as a fork-painting of sauce over the top of the calzone provided enough favor.
The dough was of even higher quality than the Marinara Sauce. It was obviously freshly baked from never frozen product, but more impressive was the intrinsic taste and texture. It was not soggy (even after the 30+ minute trip back to Chula Vista) yet cut almost like a filo dough.
The dough had great body and contained the "toppings" well. The favor was the deep and complex taste of the perfect traditional pizza/calone dough. After two days in the refrigerator and microwave reheating, the left-over calzone was still easy to cut with a fork and tasted better than others' fresh out of the oven.
They are primarily a delivery/takeout place, but I did notice a few (maybe 5?) tables.
Living in Chula Vista and the price of gas going up, I am almost afraid to try the pizza!
