I stayed at the Secret Garden Inn, which is basically in the backyard of this Cafe. The cafe food looks fine, better than some other fare in Del Mar. Service is soso. The breakfast that was included in the Inn stay was not particularly great, lukewarm coffee, the croissant was ok. Overall ok, but not my first choice.

Ordinary food and the only time my credit card was charged more than the meal cost. When I got my statement back it showed the meal was charged twice. The restaurant did make a correction after protesting, but they were not apologetic. Outside patio is right in the middle of the sidewalk and not very good.

Food was great. The service was great later in the visit. Very nice patio area with natural cover. Older and rustic. Ended up being a nice little breakfast.

Cozy, romantic setting wasted on me since I was dining alone. Service friendly but not crisp. Wednesday night so lively but not too busy. Food arrived quickly and hot stuff was hot. Wednesday is ceviche night. Tasty, but normal "classic". Unusual Peruvian presentation. Aji de gallina very excellent.

while the service was never that great, the food used to be... but the ownership has changed, and the food is no longer the same.. and the service is still questionable.. won't be going back.

Every now and then, one stumbles upon a place with amazing food that is visually appealing and tastes amazing. We were seated right away and enjoyed the patio vibe. The servers were all very friendly and attentive. It's casual in an elevated way. The Shrimp Causa was so good, and the portion size might be perfect as a meal for... More

Cafe Secret is really a restaurant with a nice dinner menu. The outside seating is basically on a sidewalk... The various seafoods were tasty; the beverages adequate. Service was mostly casual, friendly and expedient, expect for the check,

My daughter and I were going to a Mexican restaurant in Del Mar but could not find close parking. Where we did find parking was near this restaurant and the outside seating area (which is all they offer) was so quaint, combined with the aspect of Peruvian food made us eat at Cafe Secret. The menu is primarily seafood but... More

We've been dining here since the day before they opened to the public seven years ago. Daniella and Bratzo just sold the restaurant to their manager - so sad to see them go! The new owner is also wonderful. So far nothing has changed and everything was just as delicious and friendly as always. Whenever we're in town we always... More

Such an incredible meal! I am particular, and a bit of a food snob. My sister and I enjoyed a lovely 2 hr plus dinner laty nite. The place was packed, the service was super attentive & the bread pudding was ridiculously good. I am thinking of making a weekly sojourn from LA, to get my Peruvian ceviche fix!!

Thank Jennifer K

The magic that happens in Cafe Secret's tiny kitchen dates back to the couple's childhood years in Peru, where good food and great company was a part of life. We are full-service restaurant proud to serve homemade authentic Peruvian cuisine. Join us in the heart of Del Mar, San Diego California. Our cozy indoor-outdoor setting, on the street, covered by beautiful bugambilia, resembles side street cafe from a european city. Romatic, quaint with a lot of character. Come and join us for some out of this world flavors.
