Davis is surrounded by many amazing small farms growing the most delicious produce in the country. And yet my salad and main course (scallops) had fat and tough asparagus. And my scallop dish had pink and mealy tomatoes (out of season). It is the same...More
Recently had dinner at the Mustard Seed in Davis, CA and it was fantastic. The French onion soup was pure comfort food and the tomato bisque with the puff pastry on top was divine!

There is nothing special about a lunch at the Mustard Seed. It is blah, uninteresting and dull to the tastes; it is, in short, not worth a visit. Apparently, there is new ownership who have adopted much the same menu as before. It was not...More

I suggest that you call The Mustard Seed and ask what might be possible for a gift certificate for your son. The staff there fields calls from literally all over the world.I cannot imagine that it would not be possible for you to purchase a gift certificate for your son over the phone. When our daughter graduated from UC Davis years ago, we had a very special celebration at The Mustard Seed and have enjoyed several visits back there throughout the years. A gift certificate to The Mustard Seed would be a great gift.
