I went here for my first visit at lunchtime. The lunch is a good value for high quality fish and excellent service. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

We placed 2 orders last night around 5:30 pm and waited for over 25 minutes while there was not many customers and no sign of been busy in the kitchen. Food was average...so we won't go again.

The owner here is so sweet, she greets everyone who arrives. The service is attentive and gracious. Erik is our head sushi chef and has created some very unique and tasty creations. Try the Sunizari, Dave's roll and Aji (whole Mackerel with fried skin). No warm, wet towel but the restaurant is so clean and smells so good, you will... More

Went to Dana Kai with friends who live in the area. We ordered several rolls and several pieces of nigiri sushi. I was neither impressed nor disappointed with the food - just so-so, in my opinion. Our friends ordered sashimi and thought it was pretty good. The restaurant was pretty crowded and was a little on the warm side. Don't... More

Went for a late lunch and we're happy with the large selection of lunch specials. We each chose the three choice selection. I got the gyoza, sushi (which is four pieces), and baked scallop (did not like). Wife got two orders of sushi and the dragon roll. Prices given location so close to St. Regis - monarch bay were ok.... More

Even though it's in a tiny strip mall here in Dana Point, Dana Kai has some of the areas best sushi. Sam is our favorite chef and it's always worth buying him a beer to get some of his favorite sushi.

Dana Kai is now our Go To Japanese Reatsurant. The sushi is amazing and the Uni is particularly spectacular. Some members of the family don't like Sushi and there are plenty of other dinner options for them such as teriyaki plates and many noodle soup combinations as well. Great saki and service!

Dana Kai did not disappoint after reading mostly positive reviews about the quality of the products. It's by no means cheap, but given the area it's also not super expensive either for the freshness as advertised. The atmosphere at lunch was relaxing and enjoyable and the service attentive. Diet Coke was served in the can which not only is quite... More

Top notch sushi bar. Ask for the chef's choice. Fish is very fresh and portions are generous. Dining room, also, has excellent standard Japanese dishes. Always crowded. Arrive early if you want a seat at the sushi bar. Open for lunch and dinner M-F and dinner on S/S.
