My family LOVES this restaurant. The owners are Kazu and Chiho Hayakawa. Kazu (not sure if I'm spelling his name correctly) is a master sushi chef. If you are looking for an authentic Japanese sushi place, this is it! We go there at least once a week

This is "Matsuhisa of the San Gabriel Valley". You will get almost the same kind of food that Matsuhisa served in the past here since Chef Kazu used to be one of the sushi chefs at Matsuhisa back in the early days. He serves almost identical omakaze dishes as Matsuhisa serves today with the exception of some other fancy dish... More

Came to Hayakawa on a Friday night to get away from the craziness that is downtown Covina Citrus Ave. Not crowded, off the beaten path. Comfortable restaurant with a nice menu. My companion ordered beef teriyaki because she is not a fish or Japanese cuisine fan. It was incredibly expensive and not particularly good. The beef was shaved, cut so... More

I am a former vegetarian, used to come here for all of the fabulous vegetable dishes, always felt satisfied and full not like just eating a salad feeling like something was missing. Now that I am back to eating fish, this place is the best, the Salmon wasabi diner is amazing,it is sushi grade Salmon served as a diner, best... More

My family has made Hayakawa a weekly tradition for dinner. We have been coming here for over 10 years. The cuisine is not only delicious but beautifully prepared. My favorite is the Seafood Ceviche. My hubby loves the Green mussels in spicy garlic sauce. The service is just perfect. Hope u enjoy your visit as much as we do.

For the next two days after dining here, my wife was still craving more of the food she experience on her omakase meal. We have eaten here several times and feel that the omakase at $80, is one of the best kept secrets in town. My wife loved every morsel of her seven courses. I tasted some of her dishes... More

This place rocks. Everything in the menu is good. My all time favorites are Red Snapper in saffron sauce, Sea Bass in miso, Albacore sashimi and for dessert, mille crepe (I think it is better than Lady M's). The place is a bit pricey compared to the other places but the quality of food in this restaurant is way superior... More

Very good but the rolls needed work. Several fell a part as if someone did not care. All in all I would return

At a local's recommendation, I took a friend here for her birthday dinner. Both the food and service were excellent! The wine list was a little thin, but we found something we enjoyed. This is an out-of-the-way place, but do track it down!
