Memphis is a local funky joint--you don't go for the atmosphere as it is very tiny. Sit on the back porch, which is covered and more comfortable. The happy hour runs from 3 to 6 and you can get New Orleans favorites at a bargain. Actually, the regular menu is very modestly priced, so you can get a good meal... More

Memphis was an old favorite but hadn't been there in years after retiring. I was delighted to find it was as good as ever. First thing that hits you is this building looks like an old neighborhood biker bar from the outside. Even inside it is dark but inviting. My favorite place to eat is outside on the patio. On... I went here for my friend's birthday brunch. The atmosphere was a little dark but the service was very kind and helpful. Food was served in a timely manner. Everyone in my party got breakfast item and was satisfied with our food. The breakfast was good and I would imagine that lunch/dinner would be just as good. I am looking... More

I really wanted to like this funky little place, craving southern food we ferreted out this joint. We found the hush puppies to be flavorless and a bit gummy, the cornbread dry, the fried catfish had a good cornmeal crust, but the fish under seasoned, and the clams and mussels in broth to be missing the broth. Overall...disappointing.

I found this place by the high ratings and close to my hotel so decided to give it a try. So glad I did! The pork chop dinner was amazing. It satisfied my southern food craving and I couldn't stop eating it. Even the starter mixed green salad was delicious. Parking may be tough so definitely worth the $3 valet,... More

Do not judge a book by its cover. We have had good southern food here. Original as well as comforting home cooked food. Great service too. Nice seating outside. We have gone several times and sat outside.

Party of four who had different entrees. The food was average to very good.Different individuals on Tripadvisor seem to have a variety of opinions on the taste of the food items. This may mean it depends on the day or time you go and who is cooking it. I think it is worth a visit to see for yourself. The... More

Hi Greg, Thanks for the review. The former Kings Inn tavern was built in 1953 without windows and with light blocking partition at the entry- I assume this was an intentional design to keep the appearance of night time -all that time. We installed the few existing "Googie" windows in 1995 but agree more natural light would move the interior... More

We found this place on Yelp. It had 3-1/2 stars. After eater there, I realize this rating may have been too high. The mac and cheese was terrible as were the collar green that came with the fried chicken which was okay. The soul burger was nothing to write home about. The halibut was decent as was the arugula/beet salad.

Hi Joe, Thanks so much for giving us a try and sharing your feedback. Co-Owner/Chef Diego Velasco and I have discovered the potential cause of our popular Mac & Cheese not being up to standards recently. It appears we had been making a double batch of Mac and Cheese and storing it in one large container and keeping it under... More

The husband had pulled pork Benedict which was amazing, fried chicken and waffles were great. Gravy makes it! Could work on the biscuits, they are a little too dense and Bloody Mary is just average. Service was very friendly and prompt! All in all great experience!

I have eaten here several times; the chilaquiles had fantastic flavor but were dry. Got a co-worker the Barbecued Shrimp & Grits and she LOVED them. Speaking of grits, my fam is from the south so I consider myself a connoisseur. Their grits are some of the best I've ever had from a restaurant. Arugula & roasted beet salad w/chicken... More
