This restaurant has an excellent view...especially at night, which enhances the atmosphere of a very special dinner with incredible food. You can sit outside, if you wish, and feel a part of the Coronado scene, which is relaxed, elegant, and enjoyable

Right on the waterfront, the service was prompt and professional, and yet still personable. The food is fantastic. They have special regional taster menus (Festa regionali) over several weeks and we were there for Puglia, the heel of the Italian 'boot'. These menus offer three courses of select dishes from these regions and are not just delicious, but good value... More

I loved Il Fornaio when I ate in their Pasadena, Ca location. When I went to their Irvine, ca location I did not care for it as the menu had changed and my favorite, the bread sampler, was no longer being utilized. The Coronado location I utilized several years back and it was quite good. ; I tried it again... More

We had wonderful service and were right next to the window, so beautiful views of downtown San Diego and the water. Caprese salad was the best salad served at our table...had the filet dish, spinach ravioli and angel hair pasta which we all enjoyed. Wine list is relatively limited. We did not enjoy the cannolis which had orange in them... More

Everyone knows how busy this restaurant is every night so it was so nice to slip into the bar and get a seat right away. We were greeted by Alejandro with a smile. He let me taste different red wines before I settled on one even though he was very busy. We shared the carpaccio which was delicious and ordered... More

Huge restaurant, buzzing with activity, but the waitress was very attentive. All four of us had salads to start with pasta for mains. Good, flavorful food that we all enjoyed, though not exceptional.

As probably any italian in the US, The only thing I was missing about my home was the food, especially pasta. Il fornaio has many types of pasta, also gluten free, and I personally liked it. It's not like the home made one, but the ingredients are a lot better than in many other restaurants. Big portions and friendly staff.... More

Our family has dined here on many occasions with varying experiences from mediocre to outstanding. Fortunately, most of them were good to very good and this visit proved very good, from our server's knowledge and personal attention to the entree (cannelloni al forno) all the way to the great cup of espresso served with the exquisite dessert (chilled zabaione with... Average food at best, very pricey slowwwwwwwwwww service, Drink orders were taken by general manager after 45 minutes of being seated, food was served ~ 1 hr later, COLD. 860 dollars for a table of 9 including 2 bottles of 40 dollar wines, 2 desserts. Bring your wallet you're paying for the view. Much better choices with same view but... More
