After multiple visits to Coronado Island during the past decade this restaurant remains remains a favorite destination. Solid Italian menu, excellent service and a spectacular view across the bay to downtown San Diego are a winning combination. In our opinion high ranking is well deserved.

It has a feel like it belongs on the coast of Italy. Nice atmosphere. Accommodating wait staff. Food was done well. This is a good Italian restaurant. Great views of the bay and San Diego.

The views of the bay from this location are spectacular. While we do miss the on-site bakery counter and coffee, which we used to visit every weekend, this spot still brings back memories, and we will always love Il Fornaio.

Not so great given the elegant atmosphere. Food not hot enough. It stays on a counter with no radiant heat on it and waits for a cart to be loaded up and distributed to multiple diners. Not too sure, but the food seemed to be sub par taste wise.

Having lived in Italy (courtesy of the US Air Force) we love it when we get to eat something that takes us back. Il Fornaio does that superbly! To start, the bread was fresh, varied, and hot. From there, our beet salad, mushroom soup, burrata, and cappalacci con zucca were AMAZING! The maitre d' and our waiter both spoke with... More

Il Fornaio is a nice Italian restaurant in a great location. It has a beautiful view of San Diego Bay. The Italian bread/balsamic/olive oil is really good. The entrees are awesome. If you are staying in downtown San Diego, consider taking the ferry to Coronado. Il Fornaio is very close to the landing.

Decided on Wednesday we should go out for Thanksgiving dinner. Did not want a buffet, but did desire a nice venue. We remembered intending to try this property, so gave Open Table a check. The service, from the host station to each member of the table-side team, was friendly and polished. They allowed flexibility in the special menu so all... More

Having been a customer of this chain since the late 1980s I was delighted to find that they were still delivering great Italian food at incredibly reasonable prices in great locations. The service was a bit mixed but charming none-the-less - one server seemed to be rather out of their depth, whilst the other was incredibly skilled at their job.... More

We requested the outside patio and got our request. It is the most romantic and best view in San Diego. We are only in Coronado once per year, however were blessed to have Roman as our waiter again this time. He is fantastic. We ordered a caprese and a pizza this time and it was wonderful. Ramon is the best... More
