Enjoyed a table by the window with a great view of the San Diego skyline. Our server was a nice man who helped us with proper pronunciation of the menu items! Everyone at the table got something different and we all enjoyed our meals. I think this was a great special occasion restaurant! There was a fee to "cut and... More

I went with friends and were seated with a view of San Diego downtown. Ideal location and makes for a great atmosphere. The restaurant itself is decent and we enjoyed the food, but I didn't think it was special or memorable. I had the butternut squash pasta and it tasted pretty good. The offer gluten-free options as well. The staff... More

I'm not a fan of chain restaurants but Il Fornaio is the exception. The food is prepared with attention, not over or under cooked with sauces that are not heavy. The view puts it over the top for value. We found the service to be attentive and helpful. Also impressive was their flexibility in preparing calamari a certain way even... More

We went with family - a party of nine. First time. The good: 1) Views across the bay, especially after dark. 2) We were seated right away because of a reservation. 3) The olive bread - which was refilled more than once. The not-so-good: For the menu prices, it seems that service could have been much more attentive. We waited... More

The food is delicious. The atmosphere is terrific. Our table had a beautiful view of the San Diego nighttime skyline. We really enjoyed ourselves at Il Fornaio.

I selected this restaurant because it has an extensive gluten-free menu, including house made pasta. The house salad was delicious, especially the vinaigrette, and generously sized. Pastas are served in 2 sizes... I found the small portion filling. I had the Pasta Alla Vodka which was delicious and piping hot. I also enjoyed a scoop of the Salted Caramel gelato.... More

We stopped here after our ferry ride and were pleasantly surprised to get a seat in the patio at sunset. The food was good - we tried their April tasting menu and the lamb, and were impressed with both. The service was very friendly and welcoming, and our server gave some great recommendations. It did get slow towards the end... More

The ferry ride was very nice. The setting was beautiful. Our seating was where we could watch the chefs preparing our food if we wanted but not intrusive. The wine was perfect. The service excellent. The price as expected for this upscale restaurant and the lamb was fabulous. Reservations would be recommended.

We went to this restaurant as a part of a large group that was hosted. There are great views of San Diego from the large windows. Maybe because they were serving a large group with a limited menu, I didn't get to try their specialties and was less than impressed with what we were served. The bacon wrapped scallops were... I always eat here when I am in Coronado. The food and service are good. You may pay for the view, but the setting is superior. I actually ate here two days in a row last time I was in Coronado.
