Get here early, this place gets busy. The service is excellent! Bottomless coffee is a bonus! I ate here twice, it was that good. Good locals eatery. I started with a Mexican mocha the 1st time and wasn't disappointed. I had the chorizo breakfast burrito and it was fabulous. Delish orange juice too! The 2nd time it was the chicken... More

Stopped for a grilled cheese and a chili dog. Fabulous floats, apple pie and coffee as well. Sure felt like we were back in time.

We stopped at the walk up windows for coffee and a doughnut. Vanilla latte was good, doughnut was different but good. Looked like a crueller tasted more like cream puff dough. Prices were very reasonable for Coronado.

A trip to Coronado would not be complete without dinning at Clayton's. I like to go for breakfast, the lunch and dinner menu are great too. Old style/home style cooking. The Chai tea is amazing. It will be crowded , so grab a seat outside while you wait and enjoy the people watching and Coronado scenery. It will be worth... More

I see all the high ratings here, and wonder if I just visited on an off, twilight zone episode day? I went here after someone recommended the place (that someone also joined me for my dining experience, and apologised saying it seemed better the first time), and the service and food were just awful! Don't get me wrong, I have... More

We decided to look for a place for a bite to eat in Coronado and walked by and were drawn in to this authentic 50's diner. Cheryl was our excellent server and we enjoyed everything and moment. Great burgers, fries, onion rings along with many other diner favorites including hand made shakes! We brought home pie for desert as we... More

My husband and I had breakfast at Clayton's and had a wonderful experience. The service was engaging. The food was fresh and hot and the home made corned beef hash was awesome.

Wondered in the diner for breakfast. Neat little place that has maintained its vintage 40's look. Lots of seating at the counter which is fun-kind of a community table where locals and travelers can converse. The staff were very helpful and the food came quick. It was delicious. Good coffee too. They have a walk up window for coffee, etc.... More

This is more of a diner than a coffee shop. That is, there is an extensive menu and breakfast is served all day. While not cheap, the prices are reasonable, especially by Coronado standards. The staff was very friendly and efficient. It seemed that there was a good mix of locals and tourists. We were seated quickly (it was the... More

Enjoyed a breakfast at Clayton's iconic old school Diner in the heart of Coronado. The food and server were fabulous as we enjoyed our meal bellied up to the main counter. The wait was about 15 min as seating is limited but well worth the wait for the experience.
