In a effort to avoid the chain restaurants we ventured into Coalinga. First the place was hard to find, second trying to find the entrance was equally difficult. We discovered it was more bar then restaurant, not a place for families. Certainly not worth driving g an extra 20 minutes out of the way.

One of the best things about Mountain Oyster is that they will actually deliver your meal which is handy when you are home bound or unable to drive. The food is consistently good and the value is fairly good. They have "mountain oysters" or huevos de toros or ... in plain English: Bull Balls. A lot of people really like... More

We stayed overnight out by I-5, but drove to Coalinga to avoid the high priced and chain restaurants there. It would be hard to find this place unless you were specifically looking for it. It’s in a strip mall off the highway. Even the sign isn’t lit. We had to wait a while to get our menus, but after that... More

Cool hometown type of bar, friendly staff and customers hanging out drinking. I ordered the pork chops / veggies / mashed potatoes / salad. Meal was really good, affordable especially for Coalinga area. Highly recommend, good place.

This small hole in the wall restaurant, adjacent to its bar, simply serves GREAT food. From their pizzas, which are far better than any chain pizzas at less price, to their top notch bacon and shrimp wrapped fillet minion, the menu is small but excellent. The staff are casual and friendly. On slow afternoons, they may even be able to... More

Food very good clean eating area, service a little slow, but not enough to keep us from going back. Also has a bar if you want a drink. So if you like to eat good food come there for dinner, they also make pizzas to go, or eat there.

On the recommendation of a friend I returned to the Mountain Oyster for dinner being a few years since my last visit. He had told me the prime rib was fantastic. Was Saturday, early evening, but I came to find out the prime rib was only on Friday this week. Prime Rib sandwich available which I said ok to. Dinner... More

On the advice @ baker House B&B, we tried this place on a recent road trip. Absolutely top notch service. Food - we both ordered prime rib - was fantastic. A little short on decor, but I like that kind of place. Did not try the mountain oysters...
