Low key excellent Italian

I've been here numerous times, The most recent visit got me there close to 9 pm on a Tuesday, which, oddly enough, is closing time in these parts. But the waiter seated me and I had another delicious dinner there.. Their menu has both simple and fancier choices. I opted for simple-the complimentary basket of soft warm bread with olive oil and vinegar on the side, salad, a baked pasta and a glass of wine. The service is both professional and friendly. Go there!

Everything was right !

Had dinner here tonight, everything exactly as we could have hoped for. Very authentic Italian cuisine, super friendly staff ready to chat in English, Spanish and Italian and some unique dishes to go with traditional Italian favorites. (Even made me cafe affogato for desert!)

Best Italian in Socal

Very affordable and delicious Italian food. There lunch portions are my favorite and I would say it's among the best if not the best Italian food I've had in Southern California (been living here +25 years). Would recommend the Spaghetti Aglio Olio or the Fettuccine Veneziana if you're into good pasta. They also have really good salads and Salmon dishes for vege-lovers. Highly recommend Italianissimo Trattoria, it's a local institution.

Best Restaurant in Chula Vista by far

I love this place and I’m so glad it has survived this pandemic. I have reacquainted myself with the food here with back to back weekend visits, and they have not disappointed. The menu is extensive, the food quality is incredible, and the staff is so incredibly friendly. Unlike Romesco where the prices go up, the portions are small and the quality is less desirable, this Italianissimo is the real deal if you are about eating good cuisine with a full plate. Please look at the dessert tray too. Looking forward to seeing the specials for next weekend. Grazie Mille!!

Great food at reasonable prices

Went for dinner, the service was great, many thanks to the young man that gave us info on visiting Tijuana. Food was delicious. Fettuccine Alfredo was a hit with our 9 year old son who is quite picky. I throughly enjoyed the homemade cheese tortellini with peas and pancetta in a mushroom sauce. My husband had the fettuccine with smoked salmon and scallops in a vodka cream sauce. Best Italian food we’ve had in a long time. Yummy desserts as well.

Looks like an original Italian

The menu is extensive and complete, the recipes seem more Italian than American, and that's good if you're looking for original cuisine. My suggestion is to make the pizzas even thinner so that it is completely Italian. The wine list is good. I love the place, but I will love more if they include pasta & fagioli in their menu, a very simple dish but delicious.

The food was excellent. The service, not so much. It seemed like the staff was in a hurry for us to finish our meal even though the restaurant was less than half full. Our waitress took away the plate of antipasto before we’d entirely finished with it.

I live in Los Angeles and every 2 weeks I go in San Diego for work. 10 minute south of San Diego are worth it to go in this Italian restaurant. The food is amazing!!. Service is wonderful and the price are incredible. ( maybe because I live in overpriced Los Angeles). Every time the people in Los Angeles asked me about my favorite Italian restaurant Italianissimo is number 1 !!

Best Italian Restaurant in San Diego Area

Great food and great care for customers…I’ll be back to taste all dishes. I strongly recommend it. The owner can support you to choose the right wine taken from his wide selection. Food is really Italian and prices are balanced.

We had such a good time that we went three nights in a row…. Pasta with clams both white and with sauce very good as are the pizzas Mafalde with delicate forest scents and Fresh squid linguine Well done Emanuele (the owner) and all the attentive, friendly and precise waiters Congratulations the n. 1 in Chula Vista

Fine Italian dining

Food, service and drinks were great. Prices $$$, impressive wine list. Parking was a bear. There is a pay to park one block west that was very reasonable. I believe free after 6 pm. We went before our North Island Credit Union Amphitheater concert. 20 min drive to amphitheater.

A breath of fresh (Italian) air in CA!

Visited in 2016 with a large group. Returned for dinner this year. After going to another (San Diego) restaurant and being hit with the "cost of living" fee added BEFORE tax I called ahead. No fee, no problem! Meal was AMAZING. As good as last time, service excellent, prices reflect what you receive in quality and quantity. SO nice that this little piece of heaven hasn't changed. Hope they continue to be a small family run restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine. Lasagne was superb, Mushroom ravioli excellent.
