The hotel recommended The Roost when I asked for a locally owned diner nearby. We found it quite easily. It's very small but has an outside patio. Clearly it is where the locals go. The food was great, service wonderful and price was reasonable.

Needed a place for breakfast within walking distance from the local VW dealership while the car was getting serviced. The Roost was highly recommend by the service guys and they were not wrong at all. Not much to look at, the building is ancient and has the look of a dive. But inside, the lunch counter atmosphere was neat and... More

At first glance this place is not much to look at and would be easy to pass up, but my husband and I decided to try this place because of all the favorable reviews. Now, as far as the atmosphere & location, it's definitely an older hole in the wall dive & could use a good sprucing up, however, what... More

We had been wanting to try this place, and we finally got around to it! We sat outside on a bright, sunny morning and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. I think this is our new favorite breakfast place in Chico. Good coffee. Good food, served quickly. Lots of choices. The waitress had "diner" attitude, which only added to the charm. We... More

The Roost has a wide variety of ethnic meals. Nicely prepared with a very friendly waitstaff. Plenty of parking on site.

There aren't a lot of places you can go and eat alone and not feel weird. I love the Roost because if I don't have it in me to plan who and where to go to breakfast with- I can go to the Roost alone and really enjoy myself. the food is consistently delicious, breakfast favorites, the prices are fair,... The Eggs Benedict are the best in Chico. Also recommend their omelets, biscuits and gravy and corned beef hash. Top quality food. The waitresses are friendly and efficient. Your coffee cup is never empty.

The corned beef hash in my omelet was top quality, home made. I really enjoy the treat of going out for breakfast and don't do it all that often. Very happy to have tried out this little place while in town. The menu is varied and really does have options for everyone. I tasted the pancakes and they were really... More
