Travelers' Choice
Located in picturesque Cayucos, California, Schooners has been offering guests an unforgettable dining experience since it opened in 1993. Embracing a nautical theme reminiscent of the early history of the Central Coast sailors and fishermen, Schooners boasts the best ocean views of any restaurant in the area. Gaze into the deep blue while enjoying one of our signature cocktails, or perhaps some of our famous calamari strips. Schooners menu features fresh seafood and steaks, prepared thoughtfully by Chef Beto Gonzalez. Take time to stop in, take a look and say hello; chances are you'll find yourself wanting to indulge in our house specialty Bloody Mary, our fresh seafood, and some lively conversation

We ordered the house special for one meal (Parm. chicken) as well as the waygu that was on their menu. The meat was extremely tender as well as the sauce that was on top just melted in your mouth. The bartender recommended a lemon drop...with her own twist on it and it was the absolute best drink I have ever had.More

Hella-hella-hello there Hellacleancasey B! Thanks for coming in and for the internet love! Our bartender is quite the mixologist - she studied beverage chemistry at the Sorbonne and has used it to make potable potations to many a visiting vacationer. We will pass on your...More

We had heard about the “Legendary Calamari” appetizer and had to try it. Wow! It was fabulous! Large, lightly breaded pieces with delicious tartar and tomato/horseradish sauces. We couldn’t finish them before our lunch arrived and should have shared a meal with such an ample...portion of calamari. Their kitchen staff know how to excellently fry. We had a beautiful view of the coast while enjoying our lunch.More

We love this bar/restaurant. This establishment would be at home in any beach in the world, whether in Mexico, the US, or the Caribbean. The deep fryers are blazing, and the drinks are cold. We had a ceviche made with swordfish and some delicious BBQ...oysters. Everything at other tables looked just as good. Great drinks and a decent wine list featuring local Central Coast producers.More

Due to social distancing, be sure to have a reservation at this fabulous restaurant as they have less seating right now due to Covid. We had the front table by the glass overlooking the beach - could not have been a better view! But the...service and the food (lunch) was ideal. Honestly the best calamari I've had anywhere in the world. We also had an amazing Cali salad. Portions are extremely generous making for a great value as well. Nice selection of drinks also. We'll hit Schooners every single time we visit the central coast.More

Many moons ago, we stopped here for a bite and looked forward to a return visit when again in the area. This time around, we had beverages and shared a delicious sandwich. We sat inside the small bar where a few locals seemed to frequent....Their conversation was a real eye opener to the comings and goings of this small community. Nothing juicy...just interesting for those of us from BIG cities.More

The view to the ocean is good. The area I sat in was small, only seven tables, plus a bar-type area. I don't know what it was like inside the bar area, where I saw people coming out with their drinks. I thought the service...was only so-so. No one offered to refill my beverage until the check came. The presentation of the food was very nice. I ordered cod and chips (they were out of halibut the day I visited). The portion size was good, with four pieces of fish, but I didn't think the fish had much flavor and the batter was very thick in some places. The beer-battered fries were delicious. Their iced tea is good. I thought the price was good for the portion sizes. The seating upstairs is only for people ordering food and it is outside, under umbrellas. It was a gorgeous day i was there, but I'm not sure what happens when the weather is not as nice.More
