We've eaten here maybe 5 times in our 2 weeks holiday in the village. The welcome is always warm and friendly, Nikos and his team deliver really nice service and the food is delicious. We like the stuffed vine leaves and the Earino salad, the home cooked lamb is terrific.
Top all of that with such a great view to watch to sun set over the vineyards and olive fields.

After a planned trip to Agios Antonios Gorge in Asites, we had booked a table in Aerino.
I had noticed it before from a visit to the monastery of Agios Georgios of Gorgolaini and the view is amazing.
We arrived around noon in Aerino where a lot of clients had already arrived but a reserved table with a view was waiting for us.
The speed of service was impressive and even more impressive was the taste of the appetizers and of the main dishes.
Highly recommended for those who know!

After a lovely drive from the Doulafakis Winery, another must see, we found this wonderful taverna in the hills of Kato Asites, with a stunning view and fabulous food. The lamb chops may be some of the best we've ever had, the hortopita unbeatable, and the owners are so warm and welcoming. An experience you won't forget!

This is by far my favourite place to visit whilst staying in Crete, and this year we had the pleasure of using the fantastic apartments. The food is traditional and superb and all the facilities are spotless. The view over the rolling hills and down to the sea is outstanding and the atmosphere is amazing. The team are outstanding and will always ensure you have the best experience even if the restaurant is full or hosting a party. We have had the pleasure to enjoy traditional celebrations and made to feel welcome to join in and be a part of the festivities. Whilst 25 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas it is well worth a visit. This is a family run restaurant who have developed an outstanding establishment for all to enjoy.

My other half, Simon (or Ted as he is known) visited with local winemaker and legend, Zacharias Diamantakis, for a late lunch. Stuffed zucchini flowers, grilled lamb chops, lamb with tomato sauce, Cretan salad, and caramelised lambs' liver - all stunningly good, as was the view! and the welcome from the hosts.
I can't wait to go myself when we return as a couple!

Before I say anything I would like to recommend not to trust Google maps for the last km or so when you go here, since we got stuck inside the small village when we went there and had to back up for 5 min to get back on the main road.
Follow the signs instead 😁
The restaurant/hotel is located above a small village in the valley and has a beautiful view overlooking the town and lots and lots of olive trees.
The locale is shielded with big windows so that the famous Cretan wind don't bother you too much.
The food we ordered was "lamb on the grill",
Lamb chops grilled with a fries and a tasty salad.
The lamb was so good and tender that I could almost eat that every day.
Surprisingly the fries were actually somewhat crispy compared to other restaurants I've been to in Crete and mainland Greece.
The salad had a nice perfectly balanced vinaigrette that complimented the lambs and the fries.
If I visit Crete again I will definitely go back.
Other notes about how to get there and back,
If you live on the north side this would not be useful but if your hotel/place of living is located on the south or south-west side, I would recommend taking the road north again towards Heraklion the west on the main road/highway after your visit to have a more straightforward travel back (especially if it's about to get dark)
The road south from there isn't bad quality or anything but it changes a lot on elevation and a lot of sharp turns.

Amazing fresh food from start to finish. Mostly mezes and one grill item. Dessert complimentary and so yummy.
Reason for not giving it 5* - not much choice for mains, only grills were being served. But I rate it 4.5 plus.
A most enjoyable experience right up the mountain esp on a really hot day.
We had snails cooked in a cretan way, local sausage, liver and stuffed zucchini flowers as mezes...... tantalisingly delicious.
I almost forgot to mention the lovely red house wine...... omg.
The host was very welcoming and friendly and informative.
100% worth a visit.

This is THE place to go when you want to get away from all the stress. There is always a fresh mountain breeze that blows away your every sorrow. You are surrounded by wonderful views of Crete's wild nature and agriculture. The very friendly owner's calm adds to the experience. The food is very fresh, exquisite and well presented. Whenever you are in the neighbourhood of Heraklion, make the detour, it is more than worth it!

We found this wonderful place accidentally on our way from the beach to our residence. From the first second we felt totally comfortable and like we are a part of the family. The owner family are the best host you can imagine. We had the best lamb and starters we ever ate. The whole restaurant is open with a great view from the mountains. What we really have to mention especially is that the entire property is really clean and tidy.
There are too many things to tell and advise as this rating would be way too long.
Whenever we will get back to Crete we will definitely be here. Keep on the good work and stay how you are!

2019, October. We stayed here in this beautiful, serene, home and absolutely loved our visit. The owners cater to your every need and the meals they serve are outstanding. If you want peace, quiet and beauty this is the place to stay but yet, close enough to get out and do some touring.

We ended up there based on the recommendation of a winery nearby and it was a hit!
Absolutely gorgeous view, great service and food with awesome typical Cretan dishes.
Even the house wine wasn’t bad and worked perfectly with the food.
At the end, we were offered some sort of grappa and dessert.

We only spend two nights at Earino but we enjoyed ourselves. The staff is welcoming, friendly and if you need help they are there! The apartment is spacious, clean and nicely decorated and has all you could possibly need. The breakfast was very delicious and more than enough. The restaurant is a gem. The food , The wine , The Raki everything was perfect . We will be back for sure! Thank you to all and especially Niko. Καλό χειμώνα !

Views are stunning and the food is incredible! They offer a great variety of Cretan dishes and hospitality couldn’t be better. We are on holidays and we will certainly be back before we leave.
