There are not many breakfast stops in Carpinteria. Located on the main cross street (Linden Ave.) this rather 1950s style booth and bar format is a comfortable format for breakfast with wide padded booths. There is a wide menu for breakfast that has a Mexican "flavor." They have specials that are excellent and reasonable. Service was above expectations. This will... More

Every year my wife and I go to Carpinteria for the Avocado Festival. We like to get there early for the best parking right on the beach This year we had breakfast at Esau's. Lovely little café, great friendly staff and great food. John & LynNita Ellis

We loved this place and regretted that we only had one chance to eat there. The food was healthy and delicious, the atmosphere charming (sheltered by historic trees) and dogs and children were welcome....meaning EVERYONE is welcomed. A great place I'll return to as soon as possible

The menu offers a good selection and specials. We like the Rincon Omelet and the vegetable omelet are my flavorites. You may want to try a Rincon taco too.

We drive to this place from Santa Barbara (15 miles) for an early breakfast or enroute to LA. It is great to sit at a sidewalk table and look down the street to the sea

Great for breakfast and lunch, I had the chicken and cheese enchilada breakfast with eggs, beans with the red mole sauce, guacamole, sour cream and home made salsa. Yumm. I have been there many times growing up

I went with a friend for an errand in Carpinteria. It was around lunch time so we walked down Linden, the Main Street, which was quite busy as it was Labor Day weekend. . We walked by Esau's and there was a clean table outside so we decided to stay. And we are so glad we did. We had delicious... More

I went here on my birthday and when I told the server she said "well Happy Birthday" it was the end of the business day for them and it came out trite. I was looking forward to a great lunch and we felt rushed and frankly I was not impressed with what I ordered. I choose the pannini chicken and... More

I could not resist "The Redneck", homemade cornbread, sausage, eggs, gravy and grits. There were other specialties on the end that looked equally tempting but you could also just order the standard breakfast. Diner style with large booths, it was not what we expected from the exterior.

I used to go to Esau's in Santa Barbara back during my college days (decades ago!) and loved it then for its big flavorful breakfasts and fun food servers. It had big flavors and attitude. I have eaten at the Carpenteria location twice and found that all these years later, the same is true: 2 eggs is more like four!... More
