The quality of the food here and the presentation is wonderful. I had not visited this Carmel restaurant for years and just told the waitress that I wanted to order the Coquille St. Jacques again as I had 4 years ago without reading the whole menu of specials. The shell is filled with scallops and shrimp in a delicious cream... More

The pastries are exceptionally good. So was the French onion soup. The peach sauce on the half duck was a bit too sweet for me, but the duck was very good. The service was efficient and friendly. The fireplace made the dining room look cozy.

Had dinner at this spot AGAIN. We visit whenever we're in Carmel (which, since moving to another state, is about every 2 years). The French fare is approachable rather than 'affected', the service is just as solid, and the lovely lit ambiance in the evening with the fireplace flickering is really special. Patrons typically follow suit by talking quietly. We... More

After having an early dinner and then walking around Carmel we decided to have dessert before heading back to our hotel. The paste ties were absolutely delicious. There were 4 of us and we each had a different dessert so we all shared. Everything was delicious. The pastries were light and yummy, the cake decedent, and the creme brûlée yummy.... More

We recently had lunch at this restaurant while visiting Carmel. The food was excellent, and service was great. You must try the French onion soup...it is off-the-charts! The ambiance is very French...just a large room with small tables. All the pastries are made daily. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The first thing you notice when you enter the restaurant is that lots of locals are lining up to buy the freshly made pastries to take home. The dining room is small and charming and the prices are very affordable. The corkage is only $15.00. The food was very french and quite good. Onion soup, and lamb shank for me. A... More

Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday after window shopping in Carmel for a few hours. The decor of the restaurant is absolutely charming. Sandwiches here are very good. I had the fillet of salmon which was served with rice and vegetables. We also had a seafood salad sandwich and cream of mushroom soup. Everything was prepared well and full... More

I love this restaurant and always make a point to have at least one lunch and dinner here when I come to Carmel. And then I come back every day and buy a dessert, because they are ALL amazing. Their Boeuf Bourguignon is so flavorful. It's not a trip to Carmel without it!

Description
A relaxing and comforting venue modeled after a European chateau where tables are thoughtfully spaced and fresh flowers, fireplace, candles and soothing musical notes are integral part of the dining experience. The ambience sets the tone for French country food served with a great deal of care for detail, and pastries baked daily on premises. Dining room is available for private dinner parties.
