The atmosphere seemed genuine gentile, country French. While known for its patisseries, we chanced upon this establishment for dinner on a Wednesday early evening.
We started with mushrooms stuffed with spinach and cheese. They were tasty but unexciting.
I had scampi on pasta with artichokes and diced tomatoes in a white sauce. A full, sautéed garlic bulb sat in the center of it upon delivery. The sauce was superb!!!
My wife had baked salmon in parchment with rice and a vegetable mix (zucchini, carrots, bell peppers). She also raved about her dish.
If we lived nearby, we’d become regulars. The prices were reasonable and both the fare and service were excellent. The owner is apparently from at least near Paris.

This is one of my top three favorite restaurants in Carmel! It has a lovely ambience - cozy and charming, like your grandmother's living room. The service is consistently excellent and the food is always delicious; my favorite is their roasted chicken and spinach salad, and my husband loves their rack of lamb, but couldn't resist the tender salmon in parchment this time. We were happy to introduce another (local) couple to PB - they loved it! It's perfectly located, next to Carmel Plaza and walking distance to everywhere, including Sunset Center. It's open from 11:30 to 9:00 (except Mon and Tue, when they close at 4:30), so it's easy to drop in any time. P.S. Their baked goods are amazing! I love to take a pastry to go for the next morning!

We had a wonderful lunch. We both had the chicken pot pie. It is different in that the top is made with mashed potatoes. A small salad comes with it.
My only complaint would be that the waitress never came to ask if everything was ok or to offer more lemonade or if we needed anything else. It was not overly busy.

This French restaurant was highly rated onYelp, so we decided to come here for dinner on our last night in Carmel. Upon entering the restaurant, you come into the bakery where there are delectable delights just staring out of the case. The restaurant is small with tables spaced far apart. The ambience is lovely. Our server Mizuri (spelling ?) was very attentive and provided great service. Our table of four shared two appetizers, the tuna tartare, and the stuffed mushrooms. The chef left out the almonds on the tuna tartare at my request. The tuna had good flavor, but it didn’t look like high quality ahi tuna as it didn’t have that deep red color. This dish came with only four tiny slices of baguette. Certainly not enough toast with the amount of tuna, the proportions were off. The stuffed mushrooms I didn’t even enjoy. It was creamed spinach in a mushroom with a piece of cheese slapped on top. No creativity with that dish. My husband had the beef bourguignon for dinner and absolutely loved it. I tasted it and the flavor was outstanding. My cousin ordered the duck done two ways and it was also a delicious dish. My other cousin and I ordered the chicken pot pie as our server said it’s the dish the restaurant was known for. I was surprised that it was more of a shepherds pie because there was no flaky pastry encasing the filling. The top was a layer of mashed potatoes, which they threw under the broiler to have a bit of texture. It was a thick layer of potatoes, again feeling the proportion was off. More potato than filling. The flavor, however, was amazing and the chicken was very tender. I was just disappointed because chicken pot pie is with pastry; shepherds pie is with mashed potatoes. So there were a few positives about dinner, but I wouldn’t go here again as I found the experience not as wonderful as the other restaurants I’ve been to in town.

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for over 40 years. This was our first time in Carmel since Covid. We were sad to find that the restaurant had changed. The French onion soup was still good. The beef bourguignon was a different recipe, now served over pasta and with very little wine in the sauce. The coquilles St. Jaques, another dish we've ordered for decades, was also not as good as it had been. And of course, the desserts changed many years ago from the amazing selection and quality when the original couple was there.
Service was OK, but not the elegant service it used to be. Decor is the same. Signs asking people not to use cell phones are gone and most people at other tables were on their phones which does detract from the atmosphere. Some never seemed to speak to each other for the whole meal. (Maybe they were texting with their dinner partners?)

My partner and I had dinner here last Sunday night (luckily we had a reservation!). We arrived 15 minutes early but they already had our table waiting for us - a great start to a wonderful experience. I had the beef bourguignon, which came with perfectly cooked vegetables and scalloped potatoes (yum!), and my partner had a HUGE piece of quiche (literally 1/4 of a pie) that could have been much smaller at the same price. The food was not only perfectly prepared, we felt it was a very good value - how many restaurants have glasses of wine for < $10 and include soup or salad with their entrees? After dinner we went into the bakery to pick out a dessert and decided upon a lemon tart which was simply amazing and perhaps the highlight of our meal.
One other great thing about this restaurant is its location - not being on Ocean made it feel much less noisy and hectic. We experienced exceptional service from start to finish, and would not hesitate to come here again.

We chose this restaurant based on recent trip advisor reviews. I think the food here is adequate but be warned if anyone in your party has food allergies or other medical issues which require some adjustment in food preparation best to go elsewhere. These people were rude and unsympathetic. It appears that the chef is unable or unwilling to do any special preparation. My sister has a severe allergy to olive oil. After we’d ordered our wine they told us that every single dish is prepared with olive oil even the pasta is boiled in it. It appears that all the food is prepared ahead of time- how far ahead who knows. They finally agreed to my sister’s suggestion to make her plain pasta with butter and Parmesan. That is her frequent solution when dining out. The pasta came in a sticky lump with two cold pats of butter on top. I guess I should have gone in the kitchen and taught the chef how to make pasta that will not stick and without olive oil.
I recognize restaurants are struggling but refusing to accommodate customers with a reasonable solution is a very poor long term strategy for survival. Since when is all French food prepared with olive oil? Julia Child would be appalled - as I recall many French dishes are made with butter. If the restaurant is unable to make any accommodation they should state that on their website and on open table.

I my mother and sister there, because I used to love the environment.
Had a really bad experience this time with the waitress.
I'm an adult well educated woman and all three of us were dressed up properly, to have a great day with photo shoots around Carmel.
First when we sat, waitress asked to adjust my chair, by adjusting meaning pushing me to the table, where I could hardly breath! I'm 156Ib, not really heavy.
I didn't say anything, but that was an insult, in front of my family.
Although was Saturday but restaurant was half empty, there were no need to push me to the table, the table behind me was empty, I don't understand what her intention was.
After she brought our food which I should say the quality wasn't what I was expected, the steamed fish was so test less, I barely swallowed one third of it.
Then the interesting part was, my sister was still eating she came and took her plate while her fork was travelling from plate to her mouth!
The whole dining was less than half an hour!! I didn't want to leave any tip, but it's not my personality, I complained to the manager and I'm writing here, because this kind of behavior should not be tolerated!

Honestly, this place sucked. I asked for recommendations when I ordered and they said salmon, and hey you can't really mess up a salmon but boy was I wrong. The salmon was extremely dry and only seasoned the top left side of the fish. It was so bad I asked for a new dish for the first time in my 23 years of living. I asked for the lamb shank and I would give it a solid 6/10. My boyfriend ordered the duck and the sauce it came with had the consistency of juice from a Safeway. I would like to point out that we got our entrees after we drank a bottle of wine so I feel like if I was sober the food would have been worse. When we finished we both agreed that the highlight was the dressing from our side salad. I would lastly like to point out that the staff was awesome and attentive. They gave me a complementary bread pudding because the salmon looked so sad but it has the consistency of cardboard. A for effort but a D in execution.

I took friends from Hawaii to this place that was a frequent spot for me in the past (my wife loved desserts). It has remained attractive, clean, elegant, with best rich pastries and others. This time the receiving lady was efficient but cold and unpleasant attitude. The service of our orders was immaculate, we truly enjoyed the super rich (not for a weak heart) pastries, and beverages. The way it is served (coffee container, little cups, etc) reminded me of the times when my mother would serve tea to her favorite friends/fam. In summary a luxurious experience to enjoy in a rainy afternoon and to relax and have a nice conversation. $$$.

A friend recommended this place to us, and it is really great. Beautiful place, good food and great pastries. We had the poached eggs and the eggs Benedict, both very good, and a slice of a creamy coconut cake.

While staying in Monterey, my wife and I traveled to nearby Carmel for dinner. We chose Patisserie Boissiere, a lovely French bistro. Patisserie Boissiere is a restaurant and bakery. When you enter, all their pastries and bread are on display to buy. As you pass through you enter the restaurant. The space is warm and cozy. We began with the harvest salad, a salad of greens, jicama, apples, raisins and walnuts and the goat cheese and mushroom tartlet. Both were delicious. Entrees were the beef short ribs and the coquille saint jacques. The short ribs were savory in a wine reduction and the coquille filled with shrimp and scallops in a cream sauce. We finished with the banana cream pie and chocolate mousse cake. Both were decadent. The meal and service were fantastic.

Wine, service and French onion soup were all great. We were so excited to eat here however, the Beef bourguignon was a disappointment. The beef was over cooked and the sauce had a bbq flavor. Not even close to the beef bourguignon meal we had enjoyed in Paris. It’s a shame that the reviews of this restaurant do not match up with the food served.

The decor of the room isn't crazy, but the stage is excellent. Right next to the parking lot in this charming town.
Delicate but warm welcome, efficient, attentive and considerate service, even with young children. Our dishes were careful and tasty. The wines are overpriced, like everywhere, in California, despite local production. We tested it, by the glass, but were disappointed. On the other hand, we didn't dare the desserts.

We enjoyed a nice dinner at this friendly restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. French style food that caters to what Americans think it is.
We enjoyed a bowl of the highly recommended French onion soup. I dined on the night special; the osso bucco, tender and tasty. My wife wife enjoyed the Coquilles St. Jacques. For dessert we shared a lemon curd tart.
We enjoyed a nice bottle of California wine.
For a glimpse of France this is a nice place for a friendly and savory meal.
