We know good seafood, we know how to buy it and we know how to prepare it. Unlike most restaurants (even the best of them) where fish is often a secondary item on the menu… at Flaherty's it's all about seafood.

Lobster bisque brings my family back every time. We enjoy their fish n chips, paella, fried artichoke hearts, calamari and many other items, but their lobster bisque is very good. We use the Yelp check in feature for free appetizers and they always honor it...(as of April 2021).More

Fabulous the best restaurant we hit on our 3 day weekend in Carmel. Ken the owner was like a friend and treated us like regulars, the food sooo exceptional and a menu tremendous with something for everyone. We hit this place on our first night,...and were greeted by Stoyan, the host and very personable, kind and a social butterfly. Our server had our water and drink orders filled the whole time we were there, we ordered a lot of great dishes, I had the best crab meat quesadilla I ever tasted with corn mesa, my friends had the seared ahi, crab cakes, claim chowder, we were blown away, and feared we'd never top this place. Ken the owner also owns the Village Corner directly across the street at the corner, which we already decided we would try for breakfast the next morning. The desserts were another story! The bread pudding was yummy but so was the elderberry pie, which is hard to come by and a special berry and I had the key lime pie and would order it again. Highly recommend this restaurant, it's not to be missed while visiting Carmel!!!More

This was the worst meal we have ever had in Carmel in many years I ordered the crab sandwich. It was over salted (ad I love salt) and had some yucky, cheap yellow cheese that purported to be cheddar. It came with a tasteless “Caesar...“ salad that was not worth eating. My spouse ordered sand dabs, a dish he loves, and was equally disappointed in the poor quality of the food.More

Flaherty’s is located a block north of Ocean Ave, just a 5 minute leisurely walk from our hotel. Claiming a car’s width space from 6th ave, Flaherty’s has created a big outdoor dining space. Couple that with seating in the alley, you now have a...space as big as their indoor dining space. Reservation is quite easy, being handled by Open table. Our group of 6 got there at our reservation time of 5:45. The host said it will be a few minutes because he "miscalculated". Miscalculated? Whatever. We were finally seated 15 minutes past our reservation. To their credit, our table appears to have just been conjured up out of thin air. It was also a favorable location since we were not exposed to the chilling wind present in Carmel that night. Service is fast and very professional, the front of the house expertly performing this difficult choreography since it was a very busy Saturday night. As far as the food is concerned, they were batting 87%. All of our food were great except for one. Mine. The halibut. The sauce is so salty that it rendered the dish inedible. Why the 1 star you wonder? It is how they handled matters when I returned the food. I love it when the manager/?owner? comes up to your table to tell you in not so direct way that your taste buds suck and you don’t know what salty is. He even backed up his statement with, "That is what I had for dinner, it wasn’t salty". I normally don't return my food, I usually would just try and eat what was served and chuck it to experience. In fact this is only my second time to return any food that I ordered. He gave us a $100 voucher (maybe after learning we were from LA, and normally be getting home Sunday morning, who knows). Even though we are staying until Monday afternoon, my interaction with him left a bad taste in my mouth that I am not returning any time soon. Even with a $100 voucher. Besides, I don’t want to break my rule of not eating twice in the same restaurant while on vacation...More

Some businesses adapt to bad situations, while others fail. Flaherty's is definitely the former. During this pandemic they've set up tables outside on the street. This afternoon we had a delightful lunch, and were so impressed that we think they should keep these changes in...effect even after Covid-19 is but a memory. My fish tacos were delicious, as was my wife's fish and chips. The two of us shared a wedge salad. Diners shouldn't miss ordering that. It was tasty, and a perfect lead-in to our entrees. Highly recommended.More

Took forever to get a server to order a drink. There was 1 waitress per 13 tables. Our cocktails arrived after our dinner arrived. We ordered 2 split bottles of champagne. Then the waitress came back and said that they didn’t have any so we...ordered 2 glasses of wine, however, we were still billed for the champagnes. Poorly run operation. We will not be back...too many other great restaurants in Carmel who value their clients and provide much better service.More

We had a pleasant experience at the restaurant. Their service is great, food is fresh and delicious. The fish and chips is the best I had ever had. Their prawn pasta is another hit. I highly recommend this place if you visit Carmel.
