We ate in many places for 3 weeks during our trip and this got our worst rating. Someone outside told us the locals recommended it so we mistaking it thought we'd try. Big mistake. The floors were dirty with food left around. The serving staff however were friendly although noticed some dispute going on in and around the kitchen. We... More

So, if you like Brooklyn pizza Allegro pizza will leave you less than satisfied. The crust was good; the sauce was good. But the cheese was Parmesan not mozzarella. Weird. Perhaps other menu items are good since the sauce was ok. The pie was a bit pricey at $26. All in all, thumbs down for take out pizza.

While my husband and daughter had pizza slices that they said were amazing - and very large, I enjoyed one of the best panini sandwiches I've ever had!

My go-to pizza and know I'll have a great pizza and/or pasta dish. Along with a fine glass of wine ... when I don't have to drive!

The place was hopping. Great family restaurant. The pizza looked great although I had lasagna and it was fabulous. It came with a salad and homemade bread. Worth it.

Farthest thing from gourmet. Frozen pizza has more taste. Pasta is just that, spaghetti with bland sauce. Prego is better. Only one person working lunch, poor guy.

This pizza is definitely better than average. I like the variety of specialty pizzas. We purchased this chicken pizza with almonds that I thought I would dislike but tasted great. I enjoyed the crust and the appetizer grilled zucchini. We received rather poor service but that doesn't take away from the food. A solid four out of five on taste.

We went to this restaurant based on a recommendation from a local but we were very unimpressed. We ordered a 12" margarita pizza which came with exactly one small piece of tomato on each slice and a big basil leaf on each slice. It was not cooked enough and was $24.50 which I found outrageous. I would not come back.

I'm so sorry that you did not enjoy your pizza Margherita. I would be happy to provide a refund if you'd care to contact me. Jeano 831-915-0362 Also I should mention we have the same pizza on a thinner crust (which cooks up very crisp) with all the toppings chopped (as you would prefer). It's called Pizza Roma and is... ESTABLISHED IN 1988When we opened Allegro Gourmet Pizzeria in the summer of 1988, we did so for selfish reasons. We craved an authentic Italian experience on the Monterey Peninsula. The days of pizzerias with sawdust covered floors on lower Alvarado Street were gone. As the small fishing village known as Monterey slowly disappeared so did its soul.A few small restaurants still had some of that old feeling but they did not have the food our more traveled palates were beginning to expect. Some had, great food and a great feeling, but were too expensive or trendy to be called “local spots”. We needed a place to go to – a little “tucked away” spot to discuss life, enjoy good food, family and friends…. and still be able to pay our bills on time.So in July of 1988 we set out to capture that elusive dream; the soulful pizzeria that exists in every Italian neighborhood. No big deal, just great food, friends and wine. The kind of place that your feet take you to when your mind is not paying attention. And when you get inside, it feels good…like you are home.Allegro is a place where you can satisfy your Italian soul. Simple, healthy, delicious & unpretentious. Welcome to our little part of Italy. We hope you enjoy your stay . Nina & Jeano
