The restaurant is very big and has a busy and lively bar area. The menu is quite varied and prices average for Carmel. Many families were dining here. The food was good quality. The service was excellent and we felt taken care of at every stage. The warm bread and olive oil served at the beginning are delicious .

We had after dinner drinks at the bar of Il Fornaio and thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of the wait staff, fellow bar visitors and the feel of the restaurant in general. Great place for dinner and drinks.

Solid Italian food (we ordered from the "Specialties of Puglia" menu) . Wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Food was solid and portions were large.

We stopped in for a light dinner before a concert and three of us shared an order of calamari, a caprese salad, a green salad, and a pizza. They also give you really good bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar when you are seated. The salads were fresh and crisp, the calamari well prepared and not greasy, and the... More

Met up with my sister here in Carmel - 6 at the table and we were amazed by such great service - me never lacked for attention. And the food - it was superb. The Calamaretti Fritti were excellent, but my sister suggested the Butternut Squash Ravioli as an appetizer - they were really good! I had the best Veal... More

Sorry for being a bit harsh, but basically, if you go there, you are paying for well appointed dining room and good service. Food was just average - to give you perspective, kids' pizzas were better than my seafood pasta entree and portions were pretty small for the hefty price.

I was really impressed with Il Fornaio. Its located in the Pine Inn upstairs and it has a lovely balcony with begonias available for outdoor seating. The prices were great, especially the wine selection prices (as opposed to another Italian restaurant in Carmel). The ambiance is clean, sophisticated and bright. Table cloths and waiters dressed in uniform make it a... More

We had a lighter dinner of soup, caprese, and pizza which was ample and very tasty, all necessitated by a late lunch down the coast...Pine Cone's breakfast is in this restaurant...ample buffet, fruit and the normal breakfast fare in a lovely setting...we look forward to returning for a 'real' dinner

The staff were very accommodating to our large party who needed multiple tables for a rehearsal dinner. Special requests were not a problem, and the staff were not only very pleasant, but they were all always smiling. We felt welcome to take our time and enjoy visiting/meeting other wedding guests. Additionally, the staff went the extra mile to cater to... More

Wish we had reserved more time to walk around this truly beautiful town. Sadly, only time for dinner. Il Fornaio was the perfect choice for kids looking for warm comfort food. Gnocchi were cooked perfectly and delicious bolognese sauce.
