Great spot for lunch!

How much do I love Treehouse Cafe, let me count the ways. We went for lunch and was seated fairly quickly at a table at the top of their patio, complete with heating lamps and music. We ordered the roasted garlic toast which was SO good, and the chicken Alfredo pasta with paperdelle and a Caesar salad. Loved everything so much that we came back and ordered another meal to take back home with us to San Francisco for dinner when we got back. Local tip: we discovered you can buy the homemade pasta they use in their restaurant at a tiny shop tucked away in the back called Pasta Palette. Enjoy!

I Couldn't wait to get home and write this review! We stumbled upon this gem just trying to catch a bite after a beautiful day at the beach. The experience started as soon as we approached the door and were greeted warmly by a handsome fellow. We did not have reservations but they were able to accommodate us with no problem and never made us feel anything other than royalty. At some point in this review you may think i'm bragging! That's just how great the service and food were. Our waiter was so cool and friendly...the kind of person you'd want at every event because he's just so smooth and personable. One person in our party was IN LOVE with the special sauce that came with the hamburger and the chef actually came out to talk to us, we were able to share with him how delicious it was. If that wasn't enough the food was divine, the atmosphere intimate and intriguing, customer service was epic...and on top of all of that we even had a free magic show! Our waiter was the shiznick and made for a memorable family outing we will never forget. From San Jose to Carmel we will make that trip just to visit what we now consider our good friends at Tree House Cafe. #treehousecafe #goodeats #royalty #carmelbythesea

We live in Carmel and this is often our go-to restaurant. The service is excellent. We are always made to feel really welcome. If you can, try and get a table on the upstairs patio. Inside is cozy, but outside has nice ambiance with twinkly lights and patio heaters. The menu has some good variations with some Thai items on there as well as Mediterranean. I would say there's something for everyone. I feel like the owners and staff really make an effort to be friendly and accommodate fussy people like me who like to have things 'on the side' etc.! I think the people who run/ manage this place do a really nice job, you can tell they really care about the restaurant. We're so glad to see them open again post-Covid.

Lovely Lunch

My husband and I had a lovely outdoor dining experience at Treehouse Cafe. My salmon salad was delicious and my husband's chicken salad was very tasty too. We sure enjoyed eating on the rooftop patio. Our servers were very friendly and kept everyone safe. Thank you Treehouse Cafe for an extra special lunch!

Treehouse Cafe is by far my favorite restaurant in Carmel! The ambiance doesn’t get any better for starters--warm, candlelit tables on a terrace perched in the treetops is perfection. And then the food is amazing! We’ve been there 3 times now and have dined on delicious sea bass, salmon and curries. We love that the menu is a fusion between the owner couple’s backgrounds and Chef Zee is a craftsman with food. Lastly, I can’t neglect to say just how wonderful the entire staff is at making you feel like family. I thought maybe we just got lucky on the first trip there, but they’ve been so welcoming and have gone out of their way to make each experience an extraordinary one. We’ll be there on our next visit to Carmel for sure! Thanks guys!

Lovely outdoor terrace felt like the Mediterranean!

Nestled off the beaten path, this gem surprised us with both its dog-friendly outdoor terraced environs (it looked like an indoor spot at first) and its homemade hummus and Greek Salmon Salad which was served to perfection. (Was going to share it but ate the whole thing myself) Perfect night for it and though we made a reservation, they said it wasn't necessary midweek...Still a good socially distant/covid compliant crowd for a Tues night! Felt sooooo good to do something 'normal' amidst this pandemic. We'll be back!

Very disappointing

We sat on their patio - which was charming, and their service was friendly and efficient - but their food was a BIG disappointment. My prawn pasta was one dimensional and the pasta itself was overcooked. I found myself in the unexpected state of yearning for the far superior chicken and polenta I had on the plane the night before. My wife left half of her pasta Bolognese behind noting that she'd have preferred a grocery store jarred sauce. I am at a loss for how this restaurant has such high ratings. Perhaps we hit them on a bad night - but I will not risk a return visit.

The colorful deck looks very inviting on a sunny day, somehow less pretentious than sister establishments on Ocean Ave. We decided to give it a try. Pluses: the deck, and the generous pours of wines by the glass. Minuses: careless food prep and indifferent service. We had to ask several times for a steak knife to cut our lamb which was flavorful but, sadly, overcooked despite asking us how we wanted it and noting medium rare. We also asked several times for something to wedge our table to keep it from wobbling. Toward the end of our meal, a new manager arrived, checked in with us about our meal.....I mentioned the overcooked lamb.....a shrug and halfhearted apology. Really want to like this place, come on, guys!

I went to the Treehouse Cafe at the behest of my dear friend Justin whom works there & I was both delighted and amazed at the experience I had. From the moment I first walked in I was treated with a punctual professionalism and courtesy scarcely to be seen anywhere in this modern era. Not only was the service I received exceedingly excellent, but, the atmosphere was downright pleasant and just a delight. The food arrived exceptionally swiftly and when I dug in, oh my it was a treat. The presentation was gorgeous and the flavors perfectly paired with each other across the whole dish. Beyond all of that, the dish was the perfect mix of heavy and light food and left me feeling good with a delight that only the best foods may provide. The portion size was generous and I left stuffed. I was so impressed that I left a 50% tip, worth every penny I assure you!!!

On a sunny day, there’s no better way to enjoy great food but to sit on the terrace at the Treehouse and indulge in all the delicious menu options which include snacks or bigger meals and cater very well to special dietary requirements. It has a lovely atmosphere and it is thoroughly relaxing. Great spot; loved it!

Loved our visit to this little restaurant in Carmel. Really easy to book online… staff were lovely, friendly, helpful, engaging and charming! We had olives, pita breads and hummus dips as starters. Our main courses were chicken skewers with salad and rice which were delicious, also the Thai curry which was so nice although very hot! But good! We didn’t have desserts. Wine was very nice too, a local one. Only criticism would be that the bill arrived very quickly after we said we didn’t want dessert… perhaps a little more time to sit and finish our drinks without the bill arriving would have been nice. But overall a really super place, you won’t be disappointed, definitely worth booking here for one of your meals whilst staying in Carmel for a couple of nights.

First night in Carmel, we had no plans other than to find a great restaurant and relax from the flight from the other side of the country, and then the drive down from San Jose. We wandered around and settled on the Treehouse Cafe simply because the posted menu looked like all four of us could find something to enjoy. That ended up being more true than I first thought. We were seated on the upstairs balcony at a table bordered by bougainvillea in full bloom. Our server mentioned a couple of specials and I was hooked immediately by the halibut(no pun intended) I went back and forth between the halibut and the gyro plate, which seems like an odd decision tree, but both sounded so good. I finally went with halibut, as did my partner, and if the gyros would have been a better choice, I can't imagine it. The fish was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of sear on the outside. Delicious! One friend changed her mind on seeing the grilled salmon served at the table next to us. She said she was really glad she ordered it. They substituted saffron rice for the mashed potatoes on her meal and it was delicious too. We were very happy with our stumbled-upon choice of first night dining. I recommend this restaurant if you are ever in Carmel, which I also recommend highly.

Surprise to see this place rated so highly in the list of Carmel restaurants. We found it pretty average to be honest and charging 22$ for a small bowl of bland mussels is part of the reason for my score. The outdoor deck is lovely but I felt let down by the food.

Lunch on the glorious rooftop patio

The Treehouse is just the kind of restaurant that you were hoping to find in Carmel. Seating is primarily under red umbrellas on a beautiful roof top terrace surrounded by trees, plants and decorations, and away from the crowds on the street. We were in a great mood the moment we sat down. Our food was excellent, and the tables around us were commenting about how much they were enjoying theirs as well. We had a simple lunch starting with a cup of flavorful clam chowder, followed by very large chicken Caesar Salad. You know that the kitchen is doing a great job when they can make boneless, skinless chicken breast taste delicious. Absolutely, positively would recommend the Treehouse to friends.

Nice and unique place for an evening

This is a very cozy, romantic place for dinner up above the streets of Carmel. Reserve a table on the patio if you can. The food and service were excellent. I had the seafood pasta special and my bf had the paella, both were perfectly cooked and tasty. The service was attentive and warm. I will happily return next time I'm in town.
