Sam is a great! Gave good recommendations, attentive, and provided excellent service. Only had a couple apps but they were tasty. Go on a stroll to the beach down the street.

Had been here before and was happy it had not changed in the time since my last visit. This place is so European in its service and hospitality. There are 3 distinctly different dining areas and all have merit. Best of all, it stays open...More

What a warm hearted, hospitable restaurant it is. Indeed a good choice for a precious personal dinner with my partner. Soaked in Christmas colours and decoration, the restaurant and menu is influenced by Spanish. Loved the sea food platter, from their daily menu And a...More

In Italian, PortaBella means beautiful door. In Carmel, it's a threshold well worth crossing. During the day, passerby on Ocean Avenue are lured in by the sight of diners happily engaged in food and conversation on the picturesque flagstone patio. At night, heady aromas and laughter waft innocuously out the famed front door each time it is opened. Once inside, you're instantly transported to the sun countries of the Mediterranean with "La Cuisine du Soleil." Inspired by regional dishes, the menu takes you on a gustatory tour of Italy, Southern France and Spain, complemented by a wine list offering an excellent selection of California wines. Vegetarian options are available.
