During our short visit we wanted to enjoy some fresh fish and local cuisine. Our bed and breakfast highly recommended the Flying Fish and we also noted your rating as the #3 most favorite restaurant in Carmel. The food and our server were such a disappointment! We must acknowledge the maitre'd who was so very welcoming and kind. We appreciated... More

This restaurant was recomended by our hotel. The clue is in the name. It has a good selection of fish dishes and some non fish offerings. We booked in advance and ate late as it was very busy - so book a couple ofdays in advance at least. The restaurant itself was difficult to find as Carmel does not have... More

Flying Fish Grill is on of the best restaurant experience my wife and I have had on our recent trip to Carmel. Flying Fish is not a tourist place rather it is a first-class Asian infused restaurant that is a must for a quiet, intimate or romantic dinner. Escape the ordinary when you are seated in your own enclosed booth.... More

If you like fresh fish, this restaurant is a "must" for Carmel. Lightly fusion with the spotlight on seafood. Think calamari appetizer lightly fried in panko crumbs and served with a spicy sesame aioli sauce - wonderful, so tender. Abalone was amazing (special of the day) but saw many fresh fish entrees being served as well. Excellent service.

We reserved here after reading some reviews. Food was not as amazing as I read and the place being under street level was extremely hot, not enough air was coming in. My 12 daughter felt sick at one point and had to go outside for some fresh air. I would not recommend the food or the ambience.

What a wonderful experience. The food was excellent and the Maître D' was over and above what you would expect. He gave us valuable travel information for our onward journey the following day. Will definitely return again when we next visit Carmel.

We had a terrific dinner here early on a Friday night. All staff we encountered were friendly and attentive, and made us feel welcome. Seating is very comfortable--no table is located on top of another. The "bread" is a crispy yet tender wonton-like square that was addictive. We had delicious fresh calamari as an appetizer and the waiter proactively brought... More

This place was recommended to us by the hotel front desk. We are so glad we followed the advice. The sea bass and halibut were so perfect and sauce was so tasty you could eat it with the spoon ( they actually provide the spoon :-)) they were a little slow on service however we were served delicious chips with... Carmels funky fresh fish served Japanese style. Incredible calamar for appetizer. Some have been spoiled having this great fare and the old economics rule of diminishing return. How much is that slice of apple pie worth on the third or fourth serving. This is an incredibly great choice for seafood when one is in Carmel.

If you are a true lover of seafood then this is. A restaurant you cannot afford to miss. The seafood is very fresh and prepared by a chef who knows what he is doing and in a very imaginative way . The subtle touches of his Japanese heritage add a very delicious nuance and texture to the preparation of the... More
