Surprisingly located in the basement, this place has an excellent sea food and fish menu. Our party had edamame, fried calamaris, california tower, lobster tail, black cod, and fried abalon (a shell). The lobster had a perfect cooking and in general all the food we ordered was good. Very good service as well.

We went there based on the TripAdvisors review. It was excellent! I had the Rare Peppered Tuna and my husband had the Almond Sea Bass! Both were delicious. The calamari and the wonton chips were a great start. The service was excellent and the atmosphere delightful! We are long time Carmel visitors and this was our first time at this... More

After reading other reviews we decided to dine here and looked forward to it. I guess our expectations were too high. We enjoyed our meal, but did not think it warranted "exceptional" as other reviews seemed to think. The restaurant felt crowded and was a little loud for our taste, but it also had a nice vibe and the staff... More

It's underground. It's dark. It's has a funky 1960s hippie atmosphere. And it's terrific. One would have to search deeply to find anything substantial to criticize. The food is absolutely exceptional. The service is endearing. The cost/value in a trendy tourist town is remarkable. The on-site owners are approachable, self-effacing, even endearing. We certainly had the best meal of our... More

Flying fish grill is a wonderful seafood masterpiece in an unlikely place. Down a flight of stairs next to Carmel Plaza this restaurant is a locals favorite. The seafood is prepared with an Asian accent. After ordering you are served fried won ton wrappers with an incredible sweet ginger salsa. We always enjoy 2 servings. For entrees the black bean... Our 32nd wedding anniversary celebration would not have been complete without our fantastic dinner. Their signature dish of almond sea bass was truly the best we've tasted--ever--for sea bass. Annie, our server, was spot on with attention and service. And the serenade (by the owner?) was truly special. Great ambiance. Outstanding food. Reservations needed for this special restaurant.

We had dinner at the Flying Fish Grill in the Carmel Plaza in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea on a Friday evening. Based on current Tripadvisor reviews, we had high expectations of an excellent meal in a nice atmosphere. However, by the end of the evening, we didn’t like the setting, our server, the prices, or the quality of the overpriced food. We... More

We always eat there one evening and enjoy the salsa sauce as well as the Seafood Yosenabe. Good quality seafood and enough to fill your stomach after a long drive or walk along th beach. They sell their salsa, very addictive flavor with ginger and taste very good with rice. Great wine selection and the Chardonnay Talbot is excellent.

Their food is great with lots of selections. The atmosphere is dark and romantic and has an Asian flair. We will definitely go back.

Had dinner at Flying Fish 8/16. We were a total of 6 people. The seafood was outstanding.....the best meal we had while in Carmel. Outstanding waiter who was knowledgeable and very available without being obtrusive. Small restaurant which is the charming part of Carmel. I highly recommend this restaurant!! Word of caution,....I made a reservation on Open Table. Arrived at... More
