Fabulous. Service and food are unmatched. Oyster appetizer, tempura dinner, and the pot are our favorites! Can't go wrong with any of the menu items. Flying Fish is great for a date night, dinner out, or celebrating with friends. A must when in Carmel.
We arrived early for our reservation, and they were flummoxed ... said they could seat us but left us standing for many minutes, so we offered to wander and come back, no big deal. We arrived at the exact time of our reservation and still...waited 25 minutes to be seated — at the empty table we could clearly see the whole time we waited. After another 30 minutes the waiter brought our appetizers to another table, set them down, and then picked them back up and delivered to us. Before COVID I wouldn’t have minded... but have to say it left us a little uncomfortable. That said, the curry prawn soup was terrific (if a bit luke warm). The salad was nothing special. It took another 49 minutes for the entrees to arrive. Halibut is served in parchment with a wonderful shiitake sauce. The sliced veg and rice on the side are unmemorable. The sea bass comes in a lovely broth, coated with almonds, surrounded by crunchy greens. Good flavor. But the setting - sterile outdoor tables in a shopping mall outdoor area - and the service made us feel there are way better places to enjoy good food, charming outdoor settings, and great service in Carmel.More
We really enjoyed our meal here. We started with a shrimp curry soup that was light and delicious. Their crab tower is also very tasty and their seafood pasta was great as well. We finished off our meal with their Decadence chocolate cake dessert and...a side of vanilla ice cream.More
The food here is good but not great. The almond sea bass was high quality fish and cooked perfectly but the sauce and the surrounding cabbage was lacking. My husband ordered the prawn and scallop curry dish and said it was fusion gone wrong with...the combination of fettuccine and curry. He was trying to be open minded with the order but it unfortunately just didn’t work out. The service was good and ambiance was nice. For $30 plus a plate our expectations were higher.More
Just had one of the best seafood dinners ever.
The unique aspect of this restaurant is the sauces they use with their seafood. My wife had the Seabass and I had the rare Ahi. The sauces they hsd for both dishes absolutely complemented the perfectly...cooked fish. The Ahi came with a wonderful agelhair pasta while the generous portion of the seabags had a paired sauce that worked so well with this fish. What a wonderful find! We plan to return as soon as possible.More
We dined outdoors which is required during COVID but also great in the summertime. The first night we celebrated my birthday, turned out to be one of three on the patio that day. Everything was excellent, the California Tower, garlic sautéed edamame, grilled salmon and...tuna. Chocolate dessert too, extra rich! The wine list is decent and the service was exceptional. We had to return and it was consistently good. I highly recommend.More
We stopped by the check out the menu and decided to eat here. It has a little bit of an Asian flare to it, and it’s perfect! They serve a stack of fried wonton papers with their version of a salsa: pick de gallo with...ginger and rice wine vinegar. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, tapas style if you will. We had the tuna tartare, garden salad that comes with a sesame-soy dressing, spring rolls, calamari and tempura shrimp appetizers. It was all magnificent, and just the right amount for two people. I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant for dinner!!More
