You don't have a lot of choice within downtown Carmel if you don't want to visit the nearby out of town supermarket for essentials but a little disappointed in choices and the ridiculous prices of some items in comparison to elsewhere. Taking advantage I think of the limited market. Shame because the food in the deli part looked really good.... More

This is our first stop when we get to Carmel. It is conveniently located a few feet from where we stay! It has everything you need to stock up during your stay!

Before going on the 17 mile drive, stop at Nielsen's Market and pick up everything you need for a fun, romantic picnic. Also buy a few specialty items to take to friends at home (their own brand of items).

If you want to get some sandwiches maid for your trip to the beach or elsewhere, this is the deli to come to. There is also a nice selection of other food, beer, wine, and spirits.

We stumbled upon Nielsen Bros Market and Deli when we were exploring Carmel. We were attracted by the smell of the food they were cooking on the grill in front of the store. They had everything from hot dogs to ribs. The store itself is very quaint and well stocked. We purchased an entire lunch to enjoy out on their... More

This is a nice market for those days you'd rather pick up a picnic lunch instead of eating at one of the local restaurants. We did and it was a nice change.

We've been impressed by American kindness and generosity, but not at Nielsen Bros. All the staff lacked basic social skills and in one case was straight up rude. The selection of food was good, and the sandwich ordering system was a good idea. The salads were excellent, which is why we gave it 2 stars and not 1.

It's always fun to check this place out, choose local wine & food & pack your picnic. The BBQ out front usually smells pretty good.

Nielson's isn't hard to see when driving down 7th Ave, but easy to spot when driving up 7th as the front faces San Carlos Street. There is a large underground garage with entrance on 7th. Free parking for shoppers. Lots of fresh produce and hard to find deli items. Nielsen Bros has a very knowledgeable wine buyer who will lead... More
