We were referred to this restaurant from the staff at the Carmel Country Inn. Upon arriving we were set at a table that seemed to be an afterthought, it was placed outside of the patio perimeters. Our waitress was good when she came to our table, but her visits were too infrequent. We arrived at 7:00pm and left at 9:30.... More

This was a great place! The food is all local and I thought reasonably priced. It's a higher end restaurant, but the dress is casual. I had the squid linguine, a friend had the boar sausage, and everyone else had the short ribs. The ribs didn't need a knife, they were so good. My linguine was awesome. We always had... More

This is a nice little restaurant with good, if not unremarkable food. What was notable was - the really pleasant helpful server, a very happy and vibrant lady. It was a lovely place to eat and relax after a long drive.

If you are looking for the epitome of locovore, this is the place. They pride themselves with good reason on their fresh, healthy, organic food and superb preparation. We only had lunch there, but were delighted with our asparagus soup (like a puree almost) and fish. Friendly service, reasonable prices, a great place to dine.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food, staff, location, setting and convenient location made for a perfect stop. My waife was equally impressed and loved the menu selections. Our stay was short but would of liked to come back again if time permitted.

We found Basil at the last minute and were able to get a table. Staff was attentive and welcoming. We sat inside, but there's a great little outdoor area as well. Food was delicious and well presented. It happened to be our last dinner this vacation trip, and it was a great choice.

Stumbled on Basil while walking Carmel and what a great find. Cozy spot with a great menu. Had the cornish game hen and the black squid linguini and both were wonderful. The owners are attentive and the kichen does a excellent job with preparation and presentation. Wines list is good with Carmel area wineries well represented. Excellent food and a... More

We just arrived and we went to Basil. We had pate (which is fair) and meatballs (simple but very good) as entree. Then we had linguine, tuna, beef braised and sausages. Good. Not exceptional. Linguine are hand and fresh made. They are good, not exceptional. The house is anyway cute and cozy. A good place. ps: outside was extremely cold.... More

We'd arrived in Carmel after the long scenic drive from LA. Having ambled across the sands of the beach, we sought a well-earned dinner. Carmel has many options, but nothing seemed to fit the bill, particularly as we were looking for a place with interesting vegetarian choices. Then we came across Basil, and were immediately smitten. Warmly welcomed to the... More

We stumbled across this restaurant during our Californian road trip honeymoon adventure. I'm pleased we went in. It was a busy evening, but the service was still great. I had the squid ink linguine...it was sooo nice. Best linguine I've ever eaten. We also had a delicious dessert. The food is fresh, locally sourced and very tasty. Had a great... More
