Went here with family and friends for a mezza that was both freshly cooked and tasty. Great little spot and lovely ambience. Toilets could do with an update.

If you are looking for great ambiance, good wine at a reasonable price point and savory food made from locally-sourced organic ingredients this is the restaurant for you. I ate there 4 times during my stay in Carmel and loved every visit. The octopus with polenta was amazing. The foie gras and banana was a mouthwatering masterpiece and the lamb,... More

Good service coupled with a good choice on the menu and some fine wines make for a most pleasant evening here. Nothing too special about the atmosphere, but overall very good indeed.

I was excited to eat tapas in Carmel. My thought was that the food would be extraordinary. It was just ok. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I'm from New York so I've had good food. Also, I have some preconceptions about Spanish tapas. I was looking for great ingredients and decent portions very well prepared. I had Serrano Ham,... More

We snuck in to this restaurant in a small courtyard from the suggestion of our caddy. The restaurant did not disappoint. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Several tapas items were amazing, especially the steak tartare. Drinks were unique and generously poured.

After experiencing two Carmel restaurants with waits of one hour plus in town, we stopped into Mundaka for our family favorite, Spanish tapas. We were warmly welcomed, and shared several dishes that we all thoroughly enjoyed. The Sandia salad with heirloom tomatoes and watermelon was fresh and delicious. The Patatas Bravas with both red and white sauces was quite tasty.... More

Food was good, but service is erratic. Restaurant gets crowded and noisy later at night, so we made reservations for 3 at 6 pm. (Called the night before - not part of Open Table. Reservations missing when we checked in but we were promptly seated. I liked the white sangria - reminded me of Mallorca. We tried the gazpacho, halibut... More

The place is nice, cozy, and the staff is incredibly nice too!! Friendly and funny, the waiter recommended a really good wine. But most importantly, the food was delicious !! Over all, great experience to top off our visit in Carmel.

Totally rude to my family. Sat a non reserved single at a table for 3 in front of me then shrugged when I said I had a reservation and said we are busy. Lost my business for good.

Description
Mundaka is a Spanish style tapas restaurant in downtown Carmel, CA. It is the result of great friendships, a love of food and wine and music, and a long term romance with Spain and its culture. Open in March 2009, Mundaka continues to evolve daily with the creations of our chef Brandon Miller, and the musical musings of all our talented contributors. Mundaka aspires to be the hub for all that is tasty, fun, artistic, creative, and cultural in Carmel-by-the-sea. We look forward to seeing you soon.
