Just had an absolutely phenomenal meal at Aubergine. The food was superb, the wine pairings were spot on, the ambience was quiet and classic, and the service was flawless. Just a magical evening of dining heaven. I can't remember a meal where everything clicked so well. We were 3 hours into the meal before my wife looked at her watch... More

Having eaten at several Michelin starred restaurants including in California I was looking forward to Aubergine- not least as Carmel is not blessed with a large stock of good to great restaurants. Had the Menu (at $150 each excl wine). Most courses were v good or brilliant - others quirky to the point of asking 'why' . The chef iwas... More

What a wonderful evening! Impeccable service, perfect timing between courses, delicious creative food. Ingredients were a little adventurous for me, but I found each course to be some of the best food I've ever eaten! There were to be eight tiny courses, but there were two additional courses, and two delicious cookies wrapped to go. We left feeling very satisfied,... More

My husband and I have been all over the world trying incredible restaurants. I would say Aubergine is nice certainly, but not memorable. Many of the dishes are very butter dependent. And hey, everyone loves butter but when it is repeated throughout dishes it makes you wonder if thats all they know. Down falls for me was as soon as... More

Very elegant atmosphere, fabulous food with fresh local ingredients. The abalone and oysters were sublime.

This restaurant is a big splurge (even for well-seasoned diners) and was worth every penny! Our meal measured in a nearly 12 "courses" and each was spot-on. Service was on-par with the level of cuisine. Very lovely experience overall!

This charming restaurant in L’Auberge Carmel Inn has tasting menu only ($150+ 20% service charge). We were seated promptly by very solicitous staff and served an outstanding amuse de bouche of oyster with caviar. The tasting menu consisted of ten items, many of them made from fresh vegetables (toro, citrus, ego and English pea, sorrel, and mint to mention two).... More

My husband, son and I had an unexpectedly perfect dinner at Aubergine. First, the warm welcome by various hosts was so genuine as we comfortably waited for our table in a small outer room. I loved seeing the cheese room/refrigerator as we walked past to the small dining room. Just a few tables in a simple elegant setting. Powerful photo/painting... More

The restaurant used to have an innovative and delicious al a carte menu along with their tasting menu and we have enjoyed eating at Aubergine quite a few times. However, recently the restaurant went to a dinner "tasting menu" only. Yes, the executive chef is extremely creative and the end results are a series of wonderful tastes, beautifully plated, excellent... More
