My wife and I have had two dinners at Aubergine. We suggest that it is by far the most superior restaurant not only in Carmel, but in the Monterey bay area. Aubergine is intimate, seating possibly 20. The menu is fixed for the evening (though there are alternatives in the courses offered). Similar to other very outstanding restaurants, you are... More

Dining at Aubergine is great for that special occasion. The food is very flavorful and takes advantage of the ingredients that are readily available locally. In addition to the fixed price dinner which included a seafood substituion, we had the cheese plate which 5 very nice cheeses and wonderfully grilled bread. The wine list is extensive and includes selections from... More

The tasting menu is just wonderful. One delicious dish after another! Yes, a bit expensive but a nice treat that does make the dining experience very unique and well worth the splurge.

We had friends who were so impressed by Aubergine so we were excited to go there but we were left unimpressed. A long but tiny tasting menu. Nothing which was very memorable. The smallest pieces of beef ever. I did like the oysters and oyster mushroom contrasts. Their chocolate dessert was very interesting for the play of textures and tastes.... More

Small beautiful restaurant. Fantastic menu with wine pairing. Very efficient staff, incredible fresh seafood. The dessert time was also very impressive. Good job over all and big up for the food combinations.

The experience at Aubergine is amazing. I recommend the tasting menu. The menu is a bit expensive but it is really worth it a few times a year. The ingredients are really fresh and the seafood and produce is really fresh. It is an unforgettable dinner every time. The staff is friendly and professional and the ambiance feels historic and... Bartender made rum and coke for 12 year old who asked for the Coke. I asked for Margarita and got non alcoholic lemonade. The food was weird and not good. Wines are extremely overpriced compare to similar wines in other restaurants in the area.

Lovely service and excellent food preparation by kitchen led by chef Justin Cogley. Lots of seafood including seaweed that he harvested for service himself. When I visited they also had Japanese imported A5 rib eye. If only Michelin does rating down in Carmel I believe it is a 2 star restaurant by food and service.

Just had an absolutely phenomenal meal at Aubergine. The food was superb, the wine pairings were spot on, the ambience was quiet and classic, and the service was flawless. Just a magical evening of dining heaven. I can't remember a meal where everything clicked so well. We were 3 hours into the meal before my wife looked at her watch... More

Having eaten at several Michelin starred restaurants including in California I was looking forward to Aubergine- not least as Carmel is not blessed with a large stock of good to great restaurants. Had the Menu (at $150 each excl wine). Most courses were v good or brilliant - others quirky to the point of asking 'why' . The chef iwas... More
