Excellent Greek restaurant in the heart of Carmel

We were lucky to get a table at Dametra for an early 5pm dinner in the middle of the week. The tiny restaurant was packed! The host found one last table for us in the back, even though we didn't have reservations. The meal was quite possibly the best Greek we have ever had! The hummus was velvety... read more

We ate at many restaurants in the Carmel area. Dametra had good unsophisticated food, chops good, gyros dry. Would not return. Service was speedy and the atmosphere was good.

While we waited an hour for our table, we sat next door and sipped on local wine. The owner was more than happy to refill us which certainly helped the time pass. The tables are close together, which set the mood for conversation. There is singing and guitar playing. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Only 1 unisex bathroom... More

Loved, loved, loved this very special restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious! Staff is truly friendly, warm, and inviting. This was my husband's favorite restaurant of all the ones we dined in during our week in Carmel and Napa Valley! Don't miss the greek salad with gyro meat and hummus to start. Both are fantastic! We were too full from dinner... More

Having walked by the restaurant, overflowing with laughter, dancing and general good cheer, our local friends booked a reservation and away we came to jump into the merriment! what fun, most of Carmel is pretty restrained in the restaurant area. Not so here,we had a great time and really enjoyed the food.I ended up on my feet, dancing away to my amazement.Don't miss this... More

We spent the fourth of July in Carmel and Big Sur. We celebrated a birthday at Dametra......it is absolutely the BEST!!!! Food was delicious, staff wonderful and a great place to go for a special celebration. Everyone was involved in the celebration...dancing, music and complete joy....what a special restaurant. It is a MUST....a definite E ticket ride!

What do you look for in a nice restaurant? Nice Atmosphere? Good food? Live music? Fair prices? Well, Dametra has all of that and more. The food was excellent, the owner was dancing and signing, and we didnt feel like we were overcharged. Just an overall great experience, and I can highly recommend this restaurant.

Good Greek food and it's the real thing, Service is good they can help you with you choice and suggest things to eat. They even made a special plate with lots of samples on it and they price was very reasonable. If you are lucky you may even hear a waiter or two sing.. Love it

Delicious food! Lovely atmosphere! Wonderful service! I had the Dametra Salad with mixed local greens, toasted walnuts, red apple slices, Gorgonzola cheese crumbled on top with a fig vinaigrette and incredibly delicious hot green tea with fresh mint and honey. A tasty, delicious, satisfying and memorable meal! You won't be disappointed!
