I've heard great things about Madeline's, in Cambria's West Village, for awhile, but never managed to get there. Love lunch out, but the menu seemed more interesting at dinner. My bad; I finally stopped in for lunch and it was the best meal I had...in Cambria. Can't wait to try the dinner menu. The big difference between lunch and dinner is that the starters are the same but the mains are quite different (more sandwich-oriented at lunch). I started with the quail appetizer (also on the dinner menu); for lunch it was a meal in itself. Delicious, and with savory stuffing. Would love the recipe and serve on Thanksgiving. The tough choices at lunch: Croque Monsieur (a French grilled ham and cheese), the savory tart of the day, or a magnificent light salad with duck confit. Went with the salad, and took most of it home. A treat for another meal. Not to be missed is the amazing wine selection (the restaurant also doubles as a wine shop, featuring the most interesting wines in Central California). Found a new favorite here -- the Bishop's Creek pinot noir. Lovely experience all around and will be back.More

If we are in Cambria we are eating at Madeline's. We enjoyed another dinner while celebrating our 30th anniversary in Cambria. We both ordered the Baby spinach salad and the stuffed breast of chicken. Madeline's never disappoints. The food was excellent and the service superb....Dessert was the Apple fruit tart which they comped for our anniversary. Another great experience.More

WE chose Madelines because of the name... It is our granddaughter's name. We were so pleasantly surprised! The food was absolutely delicious! I can still taste the Fall Salad with squash and pomegranate seeds on arugula! It was so delicious. And the veal chop was...to die for. The House Cuvee was outstanding, and I should have purchased a bottle to go! We were seated at an adorable table just outside. The service was wonderful as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant!More

My wife and I ate here two days in a row and were extremely pleased with the service and food. We tried different items on the menu and can verify that the choices were all amazing. Highly recommend for a high end European style meal.

6 Stars. As a gourmet this is my favorite restaurant anywhere! Restauranteur David is simply amazing and prices fair. This is our almost daily restaurant choice when visiting San Simeon - Cambria. Lunch or dinner. It’s rare we are so overwhelmed by any restaurant. But...we find it’s impossible to be to complementary. Whether appetizers like octopus or quail. Entrees like salmon or the other delicious choices and deserts that are superb as well. See for yourself.More

Great, classical establishment doing its best to provide a fine dining experience during these trying times. Excellent service, and fun dining choices. The stuffed chicken was very good.

Soups are spectacular, entrees wonderful, desserts you go to sleep thinking of. Go with the chocolate for at least one dessert. As good or better than any restaurant I've been to in LA/OC. Service is friendly, non-pretentious and befitting a coastal town. We loved them...and the chef/owner is a genuinely nice guy. Miss this place at your peril.More

Must go. Don’t miss. Great surprise. Now open for lunch too. Very pandemic compliant and the most delicious French dishes. What a chef. You could feel his pride in each dish and selection of ingredients. The first time in 17 years they are open for...lunch. Served outdoors of course with the perfect music to add to the experience. We love gourmet food and this is top choice. Also very dog friendly. Enjoy every morsel of this experience. We are going back every opportunity.More
