We always have at least one dinner at the Sea Chest when visiting Cambria. The food and service are always excellent. Two warnings: 1) the don't accept credit cards so have cash or a checkbook, 2) they don't take reservations so arrive early or prepare to wait awhile.

Highly recommended on Trip Advisor, this was high on our list. The restaurant opens at 5.30pm with a long queue already formed. No bookings are taken, you stand in line and put your name on a list. We arrived at 7.15pm, no queue and our name was promptly added to the list. Fine, we like a pre-dinner drink and we... More

Had the table with a great sunset view. The wine pours are substantial. Husband had the carpeddio man size which had every kind of fish in it. He said he could have done without the lobster claws. Too much bother for little meat. I had the white bass which was good but the Chilean bass was better the last time... More

We have eaten here on several trips to Cambria and have never been disappointed. If you do not like seafood they have a vegetarian pasta but no meat on the menu. They do not take reservations or credit cards and you need to get there early to get a table but it is SO worth it. It is a must... More

Came a few years ago and enjoyed.Glad it was just as good this time.We love Cambria and eating here is a real treat. Also enjoyed the best wine during our trip at reasonable prices.Had to wait in the bar first night but no problem chatting to locals who were keen to chat.As a previous contributor said these are large portions and... First day on road trip I met a man who when finding out I was on my way to San Simeon said I have a great place for you to eat. It was in Cambia which is right down from San Simeon. The place does not open until 5:30 but he said get there early. We decided to go about... More

Nice place, good seafood, long wait. It became obvious why people were lined up before the 5:30 opening time. The servings were large enough to share.

As you can see locals absolutely love this place. Lines start forming before it even opens for dinner every day. We showed up before 5 pm and were one of the first few in line. We tried clam chowder, oysters Rockefeller, and one of their fish dishes. Oysters and fish were great but honestly we were not impressed with their... More

Nice, friendly restaurant overlooking the Moonstone beach. We eat there every time we are in Cambria and will eat there again the next time we are in town. The seafood is excellent and the prices are reasonable. My only gripe is that they didn't accept credit cards -- cash or personal check only. So, be prepared for that and have... More

We managed to get a table at 8pm no problem by dropping by at 7pm and putting our name on the list. We then chilled in our hotel for an hour. My oysters and crab were very nice but my husbands mahi mahi was average. It's a very traditional oldie-worldy establishment but very charming. You really need to like seafood... More
