For dinner I ordered a burger and my wife a ½ Cobb salad, which they served in a soup bowl. My big, greasy burger tasted like it was from a frozen food restaurant supply truck; in other words, low quality industrial, not fresh.
Our server was slow and lackadaisical, like she wished she were working somewhere else. Nice décor and garden, but food seemed average to us, and service below average.
BTW, you can log onto their wifi while waiting for dinner, IF you can figure out the 16 digit complicated password. (We couldn't and our server couldn't.) We won’t be back.

We're a family of 3 with a 6 year old and we had a great breakfast! The smoked salmon benedict was one of the best I've had and the potatoes had no grease at all, everything was served fresh and hot. They so give you coffee carafes at your table. It's small, quaint, very local and make sure to say hi to Sherri, oh and test her español!

We were in Borrego Springs over Labor Day weekend and decided to stop here based on the reviews and I’m glad we did. The food was delicious! We ordered takeout, but they were open for indoor dining and seemed to be taking all precautions during COVID. The employees were wearing mask, disinfecting menus and had disposable tableware. I ordered a turkey sandwich with a side salad and the food tasted so clean and fresh. My husband ordered a BLT sandwich with fries and it was also very fresh. We will definitely return here next time we visit Borrego Springs.

They said the guacamole was fresh and house made, but I know a packaged guacamole when I see one. It tasted terrible. The potato soup was unappetizing to look at and too salty. Inedible. The chicken Parmesan tasted and looked like it might have been a frozen meal in a previous life. Very disappointing.

Our Guacamole is made fresh daily in house as is our Chicken Parmesan and Potato soup. Quality and Service is our top priority! We went to have breakfast and of course, it was full. They only offer outside eating (understandable with COVID). We found another area to sit and be waited on. Unfortunately it is also an area that I think is overlooked. I had to keep asking for water and coffee eventhough our area was not invisible but with only 2 waiters and probably the busboy it was not staffed in the manner it should have.
We waited for a while for our meal. When it finally arrived I was not impressed with my breakfast (french toast) should have stuck with the pancakes. It really got to the point where I was irriated because we were being overlooked. A great waiter should know their area and keep coming by to see if the patron needs a refill, napkins, water...anything. It should not have to be the customer who has to get up and ask for a coffee refill or water. Not impressed at all with this place and I would not recommend.

My BLT w/Avocado and my daughter's Club Sandwich were excellent, especially after a full morning of hiking and building up an appetite. I ordered a Diet Coke and an entire carafe came along with the glass - very nice. Shaded outdoor patio was lovely on a mid-90s day. Restaurant seemed to be short staffed and our waitress was harried; lunch stretched to about 90 minutes. Would return - just not when we're in a hurry!

Had a delicious dinner complete w fresh hot rolls n butter and fast service on a Friday night. They use some fresh and locally grown ingredients which you can totally taste that difference in the meals! Breakfast on a Saturday was excellent and even came with complimentary coffee cake. Sunday was wicked busy and service was slow since most people were ordering bloody Mary’s or other alcoholic drinks which takes more time to make so next time we’ll go earlier to avoid the hungover crowds haha!

This was our third January in a row visiting Borrego and this is always our first place in town to come for breakfast. We love it! If you're lucky enough to have Sherry (sp?) she will entertain you, maybe even with a little dance. :-) Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast, my go-to and, as always, it was great. I always forget about what my wife calls an "amuse bouche" which is a little piece of coffee cake to enjoy while you're waiting. Also, they have trivial pursuit cards on the table to keep you entertained. Now, we need to come back for another meal and try them out on those as well, but for breakfast, well, they can't be beat.

We ordered take out dinner and the server who took our order was very nice and friendly. When we arrived, we noticed there was outside and inside dining. The food was great. The only negative was that all items were placed in the large containers which made it look like the portion size was small. For example, the side salad was in a large container which made it look disappointedly small. But maybe they were just out of smaller containers that night. In any case, that nit-picky comment aside, the food was very good!

The early bird specials offered here are the best deal East of the Mississippi!!!! Tonight’s offerings of burgers and sides was delicious...pair this with very attentive service , well it was a win,win! We had eaten here a couple of nights earlier and it was good too. Their fish tacos are very substantial. Big pieces of fried cod ...really good. Their Caesar salad was the best I’ve ever had. Thanks y’all!

We had not traveled to Borrego Springs for a while and decided to have lunch at Red Ocotillo. The food was outstanding but the service was incredibly slow - we waited a good 1/2 an hour before one of the servers took our order in the outside eating area.
The restaurant was not that busy when we arrived therefore I don't understand why service was slow. Needless to say, the food is outstanding and we will be going back. Our compliments to the great chef!!

While visiting gorgeous Borrego Springs we made the Red Ocotillo the go-to restaurant during our trip. We had multiple breakfasts and dinners. My favorite for breakfast was their breakfast burrito. The burritos were always hot, fresh, loaded, and flavorful. The complimentary homemade coffee cake was a nice touch, especially paired with their piping hot coffee. The Beef Stroganoff was my favorite dinner. Served with a delicious Ceaser salad. Their daily soups never disappointed. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the dishes - just go with your heart. It will impress.

A small restaurant and busy. We had taco salad and fish tacos, both good. The fish is deep fried but not greasy. Taco salad came in a tortilla bowl.
nice restaurant kind of diner style.
Service was a little slow but it seemed there was only one server.
They have a good size menu.

We ordered breakfast food for lunch today, with my partner having a standard egg/bacon combo and I had a quiche which was scrumptious. We went back for dinner and had the ahi tuna salad with mandarin orange slices and a kick of horseradish, which was seriously the best salad I’ve had in years. I simply loved it.
All of this was through takeout due to Covid quarantine, and the service was fast and accommodating.

The food was mostly good but the service was terrible. Our server took our order and we waited for more than 35-40 minutes when we advised another server that our food had not arrived. The order had not been put in. It happened to several customers. This restaurant has had generally good ratings but would definitely not return for a meal there. Several other diners had the same opinion
