We were recommended this restaurant by the two friendly staff in the visitor centre. We were visiting the area on our holiday as British tourists and were very pleased with the quality of service and especially the quality and presentation of the food. We chose...potato soup with bacon, a Rubén’s sandwich, a cobb salad and a combo of BLT sandwich and a Caesar salad. The food was delicious as was the beer. The service was swift and efficient and the server checked that we were happy with the food. If you are in the area, I strongly recommend you stop off at this restaurant.More

Great food, great service. Visited twice this trip to Borrego in the summer. Clearly the best restaurant within 20 miles. The soups were home made and excellent.

My family and I visited Borrego Springs for a few days and really enjoyed dining at Red Ocotillo. The service was very friendly and food was excellent. Most restaurants close for the summer but Red Ocotillo is one of the best and luckily stays open....Loved it!!More

Stopped for lunch and my wife and I both had the Fish Tacos. The fish was fresh and fried up nice and crispy. We got two large tacos each and they were delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. Would definitely return!!

We enjoyed two delicious meals at the Red O on our recent stay in Borrego Springs. The menu has plenty of choices, the food is well prepared, and the ingredients are fresh. The atmosphere in and out is very pleasant. On our first visit, the...waitress was professional and pleasant. On our second visit, the waitress (a different one) was much less so on both accounts. I would, however, return all the same regardless of the wait staff.More

Glad they're there, glad they're open, but I'd hoped for better. Prime rib sandwich, hamburger and a salad left us nonplussed. We were there for a very late lunch; we should try a meal during the busy hour next time.

Nice patio, friendly service. We shared the avacado and shrimp salad and a Rubin sandwich, and it was PLENTY! Lots of convenient parking (it's Borrego Springs, after all) and a worthy lunch stop.

We went for a family brunch and enjoyed our table on the patio and lots of good food including huevos rancheros, French toast, omelette, fruit cups, and a side order of especially nice bacon. The waitress also brought us all a piece of coffee cake...while we were waiting for the entrees. Plus the coffee was great! Once again a nice dining experience!More

Don't order the fish and chips. Will not eat here again. The food is more expensive at Rams Hill but the view and friendly atmosphere is worth the extra cost.

Really loved the patio seating. Service was good. Very nice staff. Seemed very popular. The local tourism publication advertisement said this was restaurant was organic and farm to fork. It is neither. Food was fine, but inputs are definitely Sysco-type, pre-packaged, lower quality. Husband's burger...was good. Onion rings tasted pre-packaged, frozen food style. My taco salad was below average. Packaged, dried shredded cheese sprinkled on top. Guac tasted like it was packaged. Sad iceberg lettuce was the main ingredient. Beans were excellent and tasted fresh, but very little were provided. While they usually have a garden that helps provide fresh ingredients, it was not operational and typically only has 4 or 5 varieties of vegetables (per staff) anyway. Glad they do have a garden, and I am sure it is great when it is going. However, the ad in the tourism circular definitely misrepresented what was to be found here.More

While visiting gorgeous Borrego Springs we made the Red Ocotillo the go-to restaurant during our trip. We had multiple breakfasts and dinners. My favorite for breakfast was their breakfast burrito. The burritos were always hot, fresh, loaded, and flavorful. The complimentary homemade coffee cake was...a nice touch, especially paired with their piping hot coffee. The Beef Stroganoff was my favorite dinner. Served with a delicious Ceaser salad. Their daily soups never disappointed. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the dishes - just go with your heart. It will impress.More

Went twice as they were open, had lots of vehicles and people there each time and there is a variety of options on their menu. The first visit, a huge tour bus sized group came in after us and the staff seemed like they might...be somewhat overwhelmed. We ordered before the huge group did but we did not get our food for almost 40 minutes--the food was done fine and it was good. The second visit, they were not nearly as busy as the first time we were there. We ordered food, had a beer but waited again almost 40 minutes for the food. The food was done fine and was good.More

Out for a Sunday drive from Oceanside. Went to This restaurant for lunch. Immediately seated and drinks served. Order taken within 5 minutes. Waited over 45 minutes for food to arrive. I must say the joint was jumpin and the wait staff (2). The food...finally arrived after the second beer (I was not driving!). It was piping hot and fresh from the grill. The best Parry Melt I have ever had. The long wait was very much worth it. Stop in for lunch. You will not be disappointed.More

With the ingredients carefully selected and prepared our dinner at The Red Ocotillo was the best meal we've had in weeks of travel! Food is important to us as we want fresh, flavorful with a variety of selections, this place offered all of that! We...cannot wait to return to dinner there tonight. It's great to travel to a beautiful, restful town like Borrego Springs and find a restaurant where we have to go no furtherMore

They have beer for sure, and I think wine also. They have a little 3-4 seat bar inside so I'm sure they wine as well. We were on the patio with our dogs, so didn't see.
