Granted that at the peak of the super-bloom the restaurant was very busy and the staff really stretched but the food was quite inconsistent. The chicken super taco came in a large taco shell filled with succulent chicken, beans, lettuce, guacamole, etc. unfortunately it had no dressing or salsa but was delicious nevertheless. The chile colorado had beef chunks that... More

So, we decided to stop in here to get a quick bite to eat. First of all, we had to wait over 45 minutes for our food. The servers checked on us all of the time and provided us with plenty of water and coffee; however, this did not make up for the long wait. First of all the place... More

We were in Borrego Springs during the busiest weekend of the Super Bloom but were lucky enough to get a table for 6 on Saturday night after about a 30 minute wait. The food and service were outstanding despite how busy the town was. We loved Carmelita's so much that we decided to go again for dinner later in the... More

Only place we could find to have lunch in town after visiting the flower fields. It was packed out with a long long but we had no choice. Once we got our food it was great!

Discovered this Mexican spot by accident last weekend during the superbloom. They had run out of ice and Patron...That's ok, other places had run out of food and closed. (Really.) I was looking forward to sipping a margie on the patio, but no alcohol is served on the patio (just inside). Anyhoo, my steak salad was good - teh meat... More

Two excellent dinners: Mole Poblano Enchiladas and Beef Chimichanga. Both contained plenty of real meat (big chunks, and very tender).

Carmelita's is a very popular place, especially during the busy Winter season. You may have to wait for a table, even if you arrive before 6:00 for dinner. There was a certain amount of confusion with our order, but it was settled rather quickly. The food is decent, standard Mexican. Carmelita herself overseas the operation. She is a very charming... Ordered traditional simple dishes, child rellano and chicken fajita. Kinda bland, could use more spices to enhance the flavors. Wasn't bad...just OK. Killer Margarita however!
