This was my first visit. It will probably be my last. The restaurant has Japanese modern decor. Service was very casual regarding conversation but attentive. Salmon dishes use farmed salmon, a disappointment. Only the fancy sushi rolls real crab, but they charge real crab prices for the others. Salmon dishes also have wild salmon prices. The server had no idea... More

This is a yummy place to go! I order the chicken teriyaki and it comes with rice, salad, and soup! I must confess that sometimes I also order the tempura

I ate here during a hiking trip. They have several veggie options, which appealed to me. The veggie rolls were tasty, but cut a little too big to eat in one bite. The salad and miso soup were very good. The steamed veggies were a tad dry and overcooked. Service was great!

Locals and visitors alike love this place. Their fish is flown in fresh to mammoth every day, so don't balk at the distance from the ocean! Teriyaki is good, sushi is wonderful. Lots of options for food and a full bar! Perhaps a little on the expensive side, but you get great service and food I a lovely atmosphere. Always... More

Best Sushi and Japanese cuisine along Hwy 395 from San Diego to Reno. Chef Robbie Tani is a master at preparation and presentation. Cocktails are outstanding and the atmosphere friendly. Have enjoyed Sushi up and down the West Coast, Hawaii and Japan, Yamatani's is exceptional and one of the very best.

I love love love sushi. We took our family to dinner here last night. The hamachi was unbelievable. The pieces were so large and melted in my mouth! Our grandson did a octopus squid comparison that was fun and tasty. The rolls are great! We had 2 not on the menu, one called a starfish is salmon wrapped around snow... More

We ordered the boat for 3 and the portion size was great along with most of the other meats, but the sashimi was almost a 1/2 thick, who does that? You would think a Japanese restaurant would know how to slice sashimi thin like it is supposed to be.

It started out okay but couldn't get decent service. We had to almost trip somebody get water. When we got our food my husband's meat was cold his temper was lukewarm my salmon was not really hot but ok. We just two decided our waitress was more interested in waiting on the table with the young people than us older... More

Amazing food, service and nice atmosphere. Very clean. Restaurant employees were all very pleasant and friendly. I definitely recommend this place. It was the best place in town hands down.
