Great Mexican food in the downtown village. Has a decent bar and a nice outside patio area where you can people watch and take in all that the village has to offer. This is our go to place when we want to have dinner in the village.

2:30 on a Saturday afternoon, still busy. Decent house margarita, salsa bar and generous serving of guacamole for $7. The chile relleno (appetizer portion) was very good but not hot (spicy). Neighbors raved about the Cadillac Margarita and all the food.

This was my first time for dinner at this friendly Mexican restaurant in Big Bear Village, one of my sister’s favorites. I chose the Shrimp con Salsa de Ajo entrée, while she went for the Carne Asada, and both were very good, with generous portions of beans. Service on a Monday night was prompt, and our waiter was always on... More

We went for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived around 11:30 and were seated right away (party of 5 adults and 4 kids). The service was great. We got our food order and drink order in quickly. The kids didn't have to wait too long before their food came out. I had the trio fajitas which was good. My husband... More

Had dinner here; party of nine (9). It was early, so there was no problem setting up for our party (6 adults; 3 kids). They have a varied menu, so something for everybody and their kids menu was good too. The service and food were both very good; would definitely visit here again.

I've been to Big Bear several times now, and have had El Jacalito catered at the B&B I was staying at. The food has always been delicious. Had the opportunity to go to El Jacalito in person this visit though. The service was ok at best. We waited for our server to arrive, waited for silverware, had to ask for... More

They serve free nachos as appetisers. The portions are really big, so consider sharing. I recommend El Jacalito if you want to get full on a budget!
