Great place. Always packed and the hostess can occasionally be rude or haughty to non-regulars. Service is generally good but they are way understaffed for the amount of diners. Most importantly the fish is top notch. great cuts great quality. don't bother with the warm foods menu unless you really have to. Their cooked foods can taste a little out... More

Always nice to return to Matsuhisa, the birthplace of Nobu. While it lacks the classy interiors of the Nobu's of this world, the food is on par if not better than Nobu. Some of the dishes are now featured at Nobu but some of the dishes served here are still Matsuhisa originals. Service is ver good and the restaurant is... More

Legendary sushi institution past its prime location and decor wise, but if you are seeking the best of the best raw fish and willing to pay for it there are few who can compete. Not a place for rolls with eel sauce and tempura flakes. This is sushi the way ti was meant to be...

We enjoyed most everything, but the sweet potato was a Japanese sweet potato, not as sweet as American. The drink menu is limited , we had something ultimately that was okay. The beef was good, the chicken good, the other 2 dishes forgettable except the shrimp with the spicey sauce we always love. All in all we could of had... More

Our first sushi dinner in LA and we were shocked with how amazing the food is and how popular the restaurant is! This has become our go to spot for sushi in Los Angeles. If you know anything about real sushi, this is the spot. Depending on how you order, like us, it can be pricy but oh so worth... More

I went there last night, so excited to get a table at this legendary restaurant. I was in for a shock. The setting is old-fashion at best. It feels like a restaurant from the 1990's, with shadowed silhouettes of patrons painted on the walls, beige on beige, crammed layout, wobbly tables and wall-to-wall carpet. This dated interior surprised me so... More

If you appreciate the food, speak no more. Its not the scene of some of the "NOBUs" though it was packed this evening. The receptionist was courteous, and handled the incoming overflow with grace. We got spots at the sushi counter, and between my two boys and my wife, we just sat and ate in awe. As the aged "Samurai"... More

Very busy and very crowded restaurant any night of the week. The food is great with exciting modern Japanese creations. It feels like it is crowded with locals who go regularly and just enjoy the casual atmosphere with great food.

Menu cards given to us for ordering the food were used so may times, they looked old and were dirty. We did not even wanted to touch the menu cards. Wine list in whites consisted had six imported and six Californian wines. Waiter could not found the wine he suggested in a chiller. when I insisted he reluctantly looked for... More

I try and visit this old school sushi guru whenever I am in LA and it never disappoints! Its not flash but the food is to die for! If you are a Sushi fan forget anywhere else and go here. I promise it won't let you down!

Staying in Beverly Hills

Neighborhood Profile
Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills began as a modest village years ago and today you can still feel its small town origins, even though it has become a major tourist attraction and business center for the entertainment industry. This town lives up to its reputation as an area full of designer retail stores and residential streets lined with mansions and palm trees. Inside the commercial center of Beverly Hills, along Rodeo Drive, droves of tourists peak into ultra-luxurious boutiques hoping to catch a glimpse of someone famous. Off of Rodeo Drive however is where some of the most affluent Angelenos occupying the streets of Beverly Hills come for leisurely meals, power lunches and beauty treatments.
