The restaurant is close to my place. So, I go there several times per year. The food is really great, e.g. the fried chicken, creole shrimp, mac&cheese, dessert - all outstanding. BUT, it is always packed and the room is quite tall, so it gets really loud, to the degree that you have to start yelling and it is hard... More

This place tends to be very packed, but they do take reservations! We had reservations for a group of 7, and we had a great time. The hush puppies were good and I had a gumbo type dish. It's a unique place in Berkeley and easily accessible by BART.

Went on a Tuesday for lunch between Christmas and New Years. No wait. Good hush puppies, like cornbread with a little spicy bite. Fried chicken breast was tasty, spice was in the sauce. Generous portion of greens with the house salad. Also ordered a side of mac and cheese, creamy taste. Strawberry lemonade had some bubbles in it. Overall, a... More

Friendly staff, trendy building, and, above all else, the absolute best jambalaya I have ever had in my life. The rest of my party had different dishes that they could not stop raving about. This is one of the best restaurants I have been to in California. I can not say enough about how great this place is.

We had time to burn while waiting to see the Rolling Stones movie Ole Ole Ole so we walked a few blocks on Shattuck looking for something to eat. We went into a highly rated Mexican place but the menu was on the weird side so we walked a couple of blocks and found Angeline's right across from the theater.... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. Had very friendly and efficient service. Good energetic music. Started with spicy dark gumbo. Super tasty and spicy but not hot. Dinner was fried catfish and hush puppies. The catfish was perfectly prepared with a light cornbread and spice batter. The hush puppies weren't amazing but they were very good. I finished with their bananas... More

This place was absolutely delicious! Everything about it was sooooo good! I can't complain about anything here. There was a little bit of a wait when we got here but the wait was worth it compared to how amazing the food was! I highly recommend this place!

This high-energy creole restaurant on Berkeley's colorful Shattuck Ave, close to the University of California campus, is ideal for a special dinner with friends or family. With a wide selection of dishes--from wild mushroom jambalaya and penne pasta to voodoo shrimp and fried catfish--washed down with Louisiana beer, there is something here for everyone. The servers are fast, attentive and... More

My friend and I caught up at Angleine's last weekend. She had the catfish with hush puppies and I had Brussels sprouts. We split those so we had enough room for dessert. The lunch was great and the dessert was to die for. Make sure you make it there if you're visiting Berkeley.

Continues to be one of my favorite places in Bay Area. Authentic NOLA style food complete with great presentation and service. Love the etouffee appetizer and the hush puppies to get started. The Po'Boys are great either fried chicken or shrimp are both good. Really flavorful gumbo and jambalaya for those fabulous southern Cajun flavors. I really like the Fried... More
