This is a great place to hear music. Not a bad seat in the house, and the sound is perfect. I've been following changes to the lineup and noticing a lot more diversity in their programming - in the last year I've seen Cuban, Americana,...More

This is a wonderful and spacious venue for musical performances. Food/drinks options are a little limited. Parking is always tricky in Downtown Berkeley. But music is always good here.

The Freight is an intimate, 400 seat, acoustically perfect place to hear music. While its roots are in traditional and folk music, they have been bringing in more diverse programming over the past several years. Check out the online schedule, pick a show and GO.

This is one of my favorite venues for music in the Bay Area and the one I visit the most. Offering a wonderful variety of musical offerings nearly every evening of the year, the Freight really has no bad seats. For acoustic music lovers and...More

Yes, the name says it is a coffee house, but it is really an amazing musical performance house. I went there with my family just a few nights ago to hear Leo Kottke perform (solo guitar and singing and story telling performance). The acoustics of...More

First off, the main purpose here is to serve snacks and drinks before and during shows. Given that limited range it does fine. They serve wines, beers, coffee, tea, cider, soda, and such as well as light snacks. The prices are decent and the servers...More

F&S is now in it's 3rd and Final location. It is near BART's downtown Berkeley station, and has INCREDIBLE , INTIMATE shows. We go there for Classical, country, folk, and rock shows. Probably the best place to go in Berkeley, except for Ashkenaz, on San...More

We go as often as we can. we make sure we catch the Hawaiian music, as well as John McCutcheon. tickets are reasonable, and it's a happy place.

They serve beer and the venue host offered a free drink ticket to the first person who got up to dance. There's isn't a dance floor or pit, so you kinda have to dance in a small area upfront between the aisles.
