Agree with a previous reviewer that this is a small place, only street parking and a few tables to eat at. But those in the area know the food is top notch! Took ours to McLaughlin State Park, and ate while watching the gorgeous sunset....Couldn’t have asked for a better evening!More

Sadly, I could only visit Berkeley shortly on my journey from San Francisco to Sacramento. After visiting the university campus, my friend and i wanted to grab a quick bite and see a bit more of Berkeley than just the campus before catching the BART...to Richmond. My friend found Gregoire online and we decided to go there and taste their apparently famous home made Crispy potato puffs. It was absolutely great. They were super tasty and i can recommend them to everyone. The atmosphere was amazing; the place is small and cute with only a limited amount of places to sit - i saw most people getting food to go. Luckily we found a place at the bar. It felt very local, but in a way that we immediatly felt as if we were also students of Berkeley. Also, the boys working there were the kindest. Overall it was a really great experience and I hope I can come back some time.More

With all the fabulous restaurant choices in Berkeley, this one is worth coming back to again and again. The mussels and linguini was superb. The NY steak done just as ordered. The grilled marinated flank steak sandwich - incredible. And the salad with grilled chicken...had lots of yummy veggies, adding not just texture and flavor but a boost of nutrition. While we waited for our order, the chef leaned out the window and handed us a slice of warm acorn squash - thank you for the delish gesture on a very cold evening!More

A small mostly carry out place with a few tables, the food has a limited number of options but is crazy good. The risotto is to die for. The patato puffs are their claim to fame and are delish. The fries are outstanding. Not sure...what the sauces were but a nice surprise and tasty.More

Went here on a lark while moving into the area. What a pleasant surprise - the meal was excellent! Both my friend and I enjoyed our food tremendously. I’ll definitely be back, soon I hope.

Great find! This small shop has the most amazing food. New to the neighborhood and wanted to grab some lunch and found this place on google maps as being close to us. Seriously good food. Rich and tasty. We enjoyed the garlic fries, catfish and...fried chicken sandwiches and the fried chicken on greens. The salad had roasted asparagus, pickled fennel, radishes and onion. Need to go back and try the puffs!More

For my birthday lunch, we went to a cute place off of Cedar. Wasn't sure what to expect but the food and service were wonderful! Loved the different breads each sandwich were paired with as well as the layers of flavors and textures of each...sandwich. And then there was the famous crispy potato puffs and the special sauce/dip! So worth going there!!! It wasn't crowded at lunch on Saturday, even with a few take out orders along with people before us and after us.More

Nestled in Berkeley’s “Gourmet Ghetto,” Gregoire has well-prepared food at reasonable prices. We ordered the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich for lunch. It is really good, and can also be ordered as a salad. We split one with an order of fries (with a great dip!)

Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich = take out heaven. Potato puffs are great if you eat there (seats for four inside and three picnic tables outside.)

We found out about this place from a tip at the information stand, and glad we stopped to ask. This place is fantastic! It is not very large, seats a few people inside and there's a picnic table outside so most of the business appeared...to be takeout. But regardless, the food is great. We both ordered the chicken as they said that was their most popular, along with the crispy potatoe balls and were more than satisfied. Will be back next time in town.More

Gregoire is selfishly a delicious secret you almost don't want to share. Open 7am to 9pm, you might be lucky enough to get a couple of pairs of counter seats inside or a picnic table outside. I had the grilled Babette steak with onion and...blue cheese which was very good and my wife had the fried buttermilk chicken filet with spicy cole slaw which was nothing short of amazing. They are famous for their Crispy Potato Puffs (best to eat these there while they're hot). Small menu - big flavor. They also have another place in Oakland. As they say themselves they have sophisticated meals at carry-out prices. All organic menu changes monthly. Visit, eat, enjoy, repeat.More

Came here on a sunny day around 1pm and there was a short line out the door of this restaurant cafe. There are literally two seats at a counter inside overlooking the kitchen and seating for 6-8 at two tables attached to the front of...the building. A large window from the kitchen opens out to this seating space, so the wonderful cooking smells are all around you. The line to order moves fast since you place your order at the counter. Then it’s a bit of a wait since you don’t really know how many orders are in front of you as the locals have figured out that you order and come back in a bit to pick up your order... or send an Uber. Since seating is very limited, the lull between ordering and eating can afford the opportunity to nab a seat. We had the duck confit salad and had to try the signature potato puffs. The salad was big enough for two of us to share and it was delicious. Imagine a French fry that is a buttery mashed potato inside and you’ll know why the potato puffs are such a hit. Yummy! If I lived in Berkeley, I’d be tempted to eat at Gregorie every day, and I suspect I’d never tire of the wonderfully inventive flavors and flawlessly executed food.More

No trip to Berkeley is complete without a visit to the "Gourmet Ghetto." Gregoire is near the much more pretentious Chez Panisse. If you don't mind walking up to order French inspired take-out, Gregoire is the place to go. As others have said, the potato...puffs are out of this world rich & delicious (a few go a long way!) & the lunchtime sandwiches are some of the best in the East Bay.More

I have only ever had the chicken sandwich...so many times. Ugh, I want one now. Comes in the most delightfully recyclable container. And with an oily coleslaw. Great walk, slow call ahead and get the chicken although my family says everything else is good.

There is not much in the way of here, here; a kitchen and a place to take your order. There are a few places to eat but do not count on it. This is the best carry out sandwiches in the Bay Area. They take...the pride and care of the best of white table cloth restaurants, but it comes in a box. I happen to love the Grilled pork tenderloin with corn & jalapeños salsa on ciabatta, with a salad and of course Crispy potato puffs. Black Oak park is not too far away.....More
