First arriving at La Note early on a Saturday morning I noticed a large line-up of awards along the interior wall. Hmmm...could this be true? Yes it is! I have always been skeptical of French cuisine suspecting it was 90% hype, but La Note has...changed me for the better. The pan de chocolate and the sour cream coffee cake were divine; there was very little sharing offered by my fellow diner. My emmental cheese omelet floated off the plate, the hand cut breakfast potatoes were the 2nd best ever tasted. Cappacino readily available. Decor is decidedly funky with a beat up spinet piano sharing space with tightly packed tables and elements of Provencal decorations. By the time we left at about 9:30 am there was already a line forming at the front door, so get there early to enjoy the attention of the very goth and charming waiter in a relaxed vibe. Lines don't lie!More

we went to LA NOTE today around 11:30 in the morning, i expect that the parking will be hard but didn;t expect this. we check in and give the guy our order and pay and he told us that we can go to the back...and sit wherever we want, that is nice maybe they are like this to the other customers, but we observed the moment we sat that said to the same indian couple to sit wherever they want, but when it comes to WHITE CUSTOMERS they escort them all the way to their table and pull out the chairs, i was asking myself is this really happening, people who came by here support their local business and this is how your going to treat us, REALLY, another SAD thing about this is that the waiter is not ATTENTIVE i order coffee with cream and sugar and asked for cream again but the server never came back and THEY NEVER ASKED IF EVERYTHING IS OK OR DO YOU NEED ANYTHING ELSE, FOR THOSE D WHO WORKS IN RESTAURANT INDUSTRIES GIVE YOUR 100% YOU DON'T LIKE YOUR JOB BUT YOUR THERE JUST WAITING FOR YOUR PAY CHECK EVERY 15 AND 30TH OF THE MONTHS MIGHT AS WELL GIVE YOUR BEST TO DO YOUR JOB.More

Went there for Friday brunch with high expectations. Disappointed. Pastry basket had to two huge croissants (since when croissants have become pastries?) While other “pastries” were dry and cold! Omelette was flat with full of cheese; not even semblance of fluffiness. Plates were cold (which...did not help with cool weather outside). Croquet monsieur was terrible! The ham was packaged ones you buy off the shelf at supermarket and bread was soggy (not even properly toasted)—I left it after a few bites. Coffee was useless. And none of it was cheap—for 4 of us we dropped $120. I had to go across the street to get a nice cup of coffee and a pastry. Save yourselves the trouble and go somewhere else. We are not going back.More

Quiet patio in back of restaurant to have breakfast. Coffee is outstanding! I had Lemon Gingerbread pancakes and spicy Marquez sausage - both very tasty. Usually on the weekend it is so crowded that I could not get in, but at 9:30 am on a...Friday there was plenty of room. I would definitely go back!More

I am Berkeley undergrad and my friends and I absolutely LOVE La Note. BEST brunch food in Berkeley by far! I love the cute seating and the outside as well, it feels like we aren't in Berkeley when we come here but have been transported...to a cute cafe in France. The Nutella french toast, and scrambled eggs are amazing and the quantities are on the greater side! Great coffee, food and service and absolutely worth the usually long wait!!More

The restaurant is a nice place, there was a guitarist playing, no loud, not too great player, but the music in the background was nice to have. Food was good, and the price was not too expensive, but no cheap. Main dish cost around 22...dollars. But the plate was well served and dessert was very nice, I have the special, cranberry pear with oat mel crumble. Very nice. I recommend this place. I rate 4 starts since the sit was not very comfortable, and the physical place was not great. But food it's worth for the price. You should go a try.More

There's often a line of breakfast customers waiting in front of La Note, and there's a good reason for that. This buzzy spot has a sort of bistro-meets-Berkeley vibe that works well with its eclectic crowd. Servers are fast and efficient, seating is uh, cozy,...and the menu choices are appealing. Portion sizes are appropriate, dishes are well prepared and wholesome, prices are fair. Save yourself some queue time by reserving online.More

always great food - their tuna on roll is for real (fillet not from a can!), tasty, quality ingredients, all prepared well. Backyard outside seating is great when it is warm. Always a line on weekends for breakfast.

Ridiculously long wait even after the 1 hr outside wait. Mire than 45 min wait before we could place our order and the food was just okay. My eggs with roasted tomatoes and salad were fine, but my family member's sausage sandwich was very disappointing....Paltry and plain. And overpriced. As long time but not frequent dining guests, we feel that tgeir weekend busyness has compromised their quality. They were good about refilling our coffee, but it was always lukewarm.. Don't think we'll return, despite the ambience.More

We had a reservation for 6 pm, so imagine our surprise when we opened the door at 6:02 pm and one of the waitresses informed us that they were not quite ready. What? Why take reservations at 6 if you're not open then? Were we...really supposed to go back outside in the freezing cold? I simply informed her that we had a reservation, and in we went, leading the charge of others also waiting outside. But despite that inauspicious beginning, we had a nice meal. I had the Feuillete St. Jacques, which is a mixture of seafood in a bechamel sauce under puff pastry, with ratatouille on the side. The Feuillete was excellent; the ratatouille a disappointment. My husband had a mussels dish that he thought was just okay, but the frites were very good. However, he was told that the mussels were not in a lot of liquid, which in fact they were. Had he been informed of that, he wouldn't have ordered the side of frites, since the liquid deserved to be mopped up with the complimentary bread and butter, which was delicious. The house white was very enjoyable. My husband enjoyed the accordion player; I could have done without it. It's hard enough to hear one's dinner companions these days without live music to boot. But I'd go back. It's a pleasant place when they're not being rude to customers who come when they open.More

We had an surprisingly good experience with our 3 teenage kids. The food was tasty, and the service was good too. The scene seemed to be a combination of neighborhood regulars and people celebrating special occasions. We tried steak, gluten free fettuccini, poulet au curry,...cheese plate, and the Niçoise salad and the endive salad, as well sharing a couple large flans (I believe this was a special). They were able to accommodate both gluten and vegetarian restrictions.More

This is a favorite. Good food with a South of France flavor. Tends to be crowded, but worth the wait. Unfortunately they only serve dinner Thu - Sat, but the brunch is on for most of the week.

Loved it! Loved all of it. The setting is lovely, big fan of the decor and baskets hanging from the ceiling. The food was sublime and really tasty, the pancakes with poached pears was perfect. Even just the bread and jam was divine and that's...before the breakfast arrives. Good coffee too! Paid $75 for three meals, drinks and tip. Very reasonable and would love to visit again.More

I have not been there for brunch, but I would expect long lines. I don't know if you can phone for reservations. In my opinion, nearly any wait is worth it.
