Excellent Service is the best Policy!

Me and my husband are from Minnesota. Right, very familiar with "Minnesota Nice". A couple people recommended this restaurant and it was packed when I went for brunch. So I was disappointed when my eggs were mediocre. Salty and nothing exciting.

La Note is known as the best brunch place in town. Starting at 8 am on weekends there are lines of people trying to get in. They have good french toast and other usual sugary breakfast foods. Also try their oatmeal. Rather expensive, I consider La Note more of a fancy destination than a casual brunch.

After strolling along Shaddack Ave for hours we stopped in to once again be delighted by the fresh, tasty, creative menu and offerings at this French bistro.

We had about a 15 minute wait. The tables are quite close together. But the food is worth the wait. I had the gingerbread pancakes with pears. I got a short stack and could not finish. We had a basket of breads before our meal and they were excellent! I would go back and try other items.

Totally awesome French hole in the wall restaurant on Shattuck south of campus. It's loud and bustling and carries the weight of a European bistro with the fortitude of an Americano. Delicious ratatouille and French toast to die for... Vive La France!

It was a cold night in Berkeley and were by the warmth of La Note. If you don't mind sitting about a few inches from the next table where you can listen to the entire conversation, then this is the place for you. The diverse menu provided lots of options. I ordered the Steak Frittes Persillade (flat iron steak with... More

I went to La Note on the recommendation of my sister-in-law. We were a party of 4. We tried several different amazing dishes. We enjoyed excellent food with great service and reasonable prices. You must try the lemon gingerbread pancakes, tea with lavender infused honey and the bacon. The roasted potatoes with herbs was delicious. The brioche pain perdu (semolina)... More

I recently went to La Note with my family for brunch. The wait was long, but at least the estimate the server gave me was correct. The place is very popular, with long lines, so I would recommend you call ahead and make reservations. As far as the ambiance, the place is small (apparently they have a patio, but I... More

This quaint cafe has much to offer from its lively and interesting decor to great food and coffee. I joined a young college student here and was taken within the place. Busy and hustling we still had a great conversation over breakfast at 12 noon. A tasty jam accompanied my eggs, tomatoes, and toast and it made me smile. Just... More
