We sailed into Lochaline and walked to the Whitehouse to have a look at the menu and book a table. The menu looked interesting but there were no tables for that evening. The menu looked so good that we decided to stay another night and booked for then. By the following evening the menu was quite different from the one... More

An extraordinary find! A world class menu, ingredients and execution in a simple spartan cafe type setting in Highland village miles off the beaten track. Exceptional, predominately local, ingredients and innovative preparation by two chefs with a passion for the best. My family are annual visitors to the surrounding landed estate and every year we aim to eat here at... More

Just been here for an evening meal whilst on a diving trip to Lochaline with my husband. What a fantastic restaurant to be tucked away so far from everywhere! We had chicken liver parfait to start, then he had lamb cutlets and I had scallops and pork belly. The food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The restaurant only... More

Whilst staying with friends we visited The Whitehouse for lunch. After admiring the fish decorating the walls and the general fresh modern interior we were amazed by the menu. So many different, unusual and locally sourced options it was difficult to choose. When the dishes arrived we were all delighted. Extremely well presented and delicious to eat. What more could... We took the ferry across to Lochaline from Mull and it was worth the trip. Fantastic menu using local produce cooked to perfection - unmissable!

My partner planned out cycle tour of Scotland to enable us to visit here on my birthday. A real treat. The service was relaxed but informative and the food simply delicious. I don't usually manage to eat 3 courses but had to force myself as the options were all so enticing. And we were' disappointed.

Our third visit and yet again we had a lovely lunch. My partner was celebrating her birthday at the same time as coping with a very restrictive medical diet. Chefs Mike and Lee did a great job making her food full of flavour and beautiful on the eye. Mike lets the food really speak for itself which is bang on... More

I have some sympathy with the previous reviewer who thought that The Whitehouse is a bit over-hyped. There was nothing to complain about in our meal but we did feel slightly underwhemed for the price we paid. (£125 for 3 courses plus a bottle of nice Riesling from Alsace). We had seafood starters (crab, smoked salmon) followed by the poached... More

We were taken to The White House by friends recently as they dine here regularly when staying in the area. The menu choice was varied and different with something to suit all tastes. All the ingredients are sourced locally, so the menu reflects what is available. The owners of the restaurant apparently travel the world to gather ideas for their... More

Description
The Whitehouse Restaurant in Lochaline makes the most of the West Coast larder on our doorstep. Lochaline langoustines and Sound of Mull dived scallops and crab are regulars, as are Seared Morvern stag's liver, heart and kidney with Tobermory whisky, lamb, mutton, beef and pork from local farmers.
Our garden grows most of the herbs, salads and vegetables on the menu. Highland delicacies are foraged from hill and shore. We love celebrating Scottish food and drink - our fabulous local harvest served in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.
The Lochaber environment is among the richest in Scotland. Our food puts it on your plate.
