Luigi's is the place to go to live through much of Bakersfield's past. Stop in on any Saturday and you will get a chance to meet half of the town! By the way, the food is great!

My wife and I have enjoyed this local treasure for decades! Saturday meals are excellent, plenty of seating and the patio bar is our favorite spot. Weekday lunches are also delicious. Saturday NY steak and pasta is a specialty, and best Pastrami sandwich in town!

We were en route from King Canyon to Death Valley & decided to stop here mid route on advice from the lonely planet. Not sure about the neighbourhood when we rocked up, we ventured in at about 11am and were offered a table on the patio. I'm glad we were early as there was a queue (on a Tuesday) -... More

but don't let that stop you. This place is hopping at lunch time. All the downtown workers eat here. Power lunches to a quick bite with best friend, or mom's day out. The Italian food is straight-up authentic. The lasagne and chicken Parmesan are two of my favorites. The atmosphere is fun. Tables crowded together, the hustle and bustle of... More

Get there early. Food is always excellent and service is, in my opinion, above standard. Also, if your company is debating on hosting a private dinner party in the future, just do it! True, it's in a crappy part of town and parking is limited but the food and service is worth it.

We think everything is good about this experience. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is fun, and the service is very good. Try it once, and you'll long to go back.

I have loved Luigis for 40 years. The last ten have been consistency overcooked pasta that is not properly drained. Overcooked watery pasta takes away from the great sauce. Happy for the success and expansion of Luiges but the food suffers.
